The iPhone only costs $80 more than the DS now, but you have to sign a 2-year contract at an EXTREMELY high monthly fee just to access any of it’s features! And the iPod touch costs $180 more than the DS! I don’t get why the iPod touch 16 gb costs $100 more than the 8 gb iPhone. Adding 8 gb and removing a ton of features doesn’t make the iPod touch worth that much more (or any amount more, for that matter)!

Apple just /fails at gaming. Their phones can’t do it, their MP3 players can’t do it, their OS can’t do it, and their computers can do it, but at approx. double the cost that any other computer can do it.

Oh yeah, Ron, you’re an idiot. Sorry, but you are. The iPhone and iPod Touch OS is BSD for gods sake, one of the best OS’s in the world. Show me another MP3 player out there I can run a web server on. (And yes, I DO use it.)

I own an iPod Touch and I ADORE the thing. I own a DS too, though almost never use it. (Makes my right hand cramp sadly.)

This article is spot on. Even the twin forces of the iPhone and iPod Touch won’t come close to the DS. My device is jailbroken and I can honestly say that not having any actual controls is a real handicap. Some folk may like playing Mario on a touch screen… These folk are mad.

Any game that requires accurate control is impossible as there’s no tactile feedback for the user.

As I said, I adore my iPod Touch, but to think it may even begin to threaten the DS is nonsense.

Even at a $200 price point, the DS still has a huge advantage over the iPhone. It doesn’t require a service contract to make it viable. After all, even though iPhone prices went down, the cost of service on them went up. Now, if you already own a smartphone, then the DS is a much better option, especially when your smartphone doesn’t run the crappy iPhone OS.

I didn’t read the forbes article, but i will say that this is the first platform that has a real chance of eating into DS revenues. That doesn’t mean an overtake, it just means a lot of money in an expanded market.

The iPhone costs more than my first car will. I have a DS and play the heck out of it. No motion? Meh. Still, two screens, and the ability to play some awesome GBA games (Fire Emblem, anyone?) will keep the DS far ahead for the near future.

I acually agree with you i’d prefer the Ds instead of an Ipod touch or IPhone still i have like every nintendo console and i got the PsP and the PS3 but Nintendos power is growing for every game that sells
