The Golden Compass – Behind the Scenes Trailer

A behind-the-scenes trailer documenting the animation of the upcoming Sega release The Golden Compass. Based off of New Line Cinema’s upcoming film, the video shows the viewer all of the hard work, imagination, and talent that is required when making a video game. Whether this type of game is your cup of tea or not really doesn’t matter – it is interesting from a gamers standpoint.
One of the animators when to Alaska to observe polar bears in the wild so he could gain inspiration for the one depicted in the game. Is that dedication or what? Actually, that is pretty cool plus it was a nice “excuse” to visit Alaska. The thing I found the most interesting, was that the “likenesses” of Daniel Craig’s and Nicole Kidman’s characters will be in the game as well – which is not unusual in a video game based upon a movie. I just thought it was cool that one of my favorite actresses was in a video game. No word on whether they have lent their voices to the project or not, but I am sure those details will be forthcoming. What would be REALLY neat, is if Nicole Kidman was a playable character instead of an NPC. Being her character for a few digital minutes would be the closest I would ever come to actually being her. *SIGH*.
She looked so much better as a redhead. Grrrrrrr.
Available in December for the PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Wii, and mobile devices.
