This video has been circulating around the net, and it pretty much shows the face of Halo’s resident action hero, Master Chief. The face can be seen thanks to two players inn the beta who worked together to force the camera inside his helmet. Granted, it’s really shadowy and all you can really make out are some basic facial features, but it’s this is still the first tiem we’ve really seen anything underneath that helmet. I’m mostly surprised they actually put anything resembling a face behind the mirror-like visor though.

I wish I had seen this when we had the Beta, as we surely would have tried on our own. Makes me wonder about easter eggs and info about the storyline that may or may not have been hidden in the Beta…

Perhaps the mixture of the glare from the visor/helmet and the shadow of being inside it, but he don't look non-too-pretty. This should be an interesting revelation.

Try to pause it when the guy shoots his gun you get a clear picture of his face and it looks a little dirty but you can see his eye and part of his nose, (his eye is greenish/blue)

Have you read the books? He's a genetically engineering super soldier who was abducted when he was about six year's old and 'experiemented' on until he and the rest of his team reached about 18. Many died just going through the operation.

the reason it looks ghostly is because he is always in the helmet and never gets any sun light which is why he's pale.
if you read the book, the fall of reach the training exercises usually hurt them, like when he gets attacked by the fighter plane, also they were sent on missions to rebel bases and got attacked there. this explains why he is scarred.
also it may not be the chief as there were over 100 Spartans made, most of them died but some survived the attack on reach, in the book ghosts of onyx, you hear of a spartan which survived and now helps in the battle.
also if you have seen the front cover of ghosts of onyx you can see other warriors known as spartan lll, if you have seen the leaked pictures of customized multi player characters you can put together part of the plot for halo 3 as why would they include them if they were not relevant, halo 2 had elites because you played as them in he game, you decide what to believe

I think you all are seriously wanting it to be the master chiefs face. I think the more likely conclusion is that it is just a graphical rendering of the back of his visor. I mean it seems like a real stretch to say that that is a face at all.

I have to agree with Shig on this one. Why would Bungie spend even more time creating a multiplayer SPARTAN which is, in almost every aspect, EXACTLY the same as the single player Master Chief model? Okay, okay, so maybe they did want to create a multiplayer model to completely waste precious disc space, for the sole purpose of screwing with your creative minds and creating massive amounts of hype and speculation that we ALL know Bungie wants. (Actually, I don't know if they want Halo 3 publicized or not. Heh.) Bet your bottom dollar that this is the same exact model from the campaign though.
And as for spell check, "wanna" and "brotha" aren't mispelled because they are SLANG words. I think spell check was brought up as a topic here because of some misspeld wurds. Heh.

Although i admit the face looks girly so maybe the developers didnt read. And for those who say its not master chief, why the hell would they make a completly differnet model for every multiplayer character, its the model for chief to. All the spartans from MC's day are dead. There are probably more spartans, but they haven't been introduced into the series yet, so currently Masterchief is the only spartan, except for people from Sparta, of course.

there are more spartans that are alive, in the book, 'first strike' you find out that some of them survived the attack on reach.
in the book 'ghosts of onyx' at least one of them survives and is still there at the end of the book, at the back of the book it states that the book is set at the time when the covenant attacks earth for the first time.
seeing that the whole series takes place in a few days maybe the other Spartans will appear.
not sure if I'm right or not but in the new e3 trailer when the chief is in the pelican, heading towards the halo, the pilot does not look like a regular marine but has a similar type of armor of halo combat evolved, maybe it's a spartan with out the mjolnir upgrade???????????????????????????????

if you did your research halo wars takes place before the first halo game, and before the battle on reach.
the group of spartans in the trailer were called 'spartan group omega' they were the first versions of the spartans and so could die in the strategy game.
if it was the master chief, who is a spartan II and he died it would end the game due to the story line ending.
the halo 3 character face is most likely a generic face used to map out the helmet, in halo 1 and 2 the marines heads were based on members of the bungie company and the face was mapped around the frame

Some of you need to read the novels and game plotlines before posting in order for correct info to be published. Severedspirit is correct, Omega group is before h1. Only Bungie(for now)knows if this is MC's face or another Spartan. MC is not the only Spartan to even have made it off the Pillar of Autumn alive.

oneminizut is also correct, in the book, 'the fall of reach' the spartans were all gathered on the pillar of autumn ready to try and capture a prophet from a covenant ship. however just before they did, the covenant fleet attacked the planet.
they split into to forces, half went down in a pelican, it was hit and they dived out, 1 out of the group died and they continued off to help some marines.
the other group which consisted of the master chief went to safe the generator powering the orbital mac gun, this is where they found Sgt johnson and some other officers. one of the spartans there was hit and taken with them. that i know of master chief was the only 'conscious' spartan to arrive on halo.
in the book 'first strike' the master chief comes across one of the stasis pods with a spartan in it, this is the one that got injured and took on to the autumn.
they also returned to the planet reach where they found 'Halsey' the creator of the spartan project, she was with some marines and spartans. she however took 2 or 3 of these spartans to a planet called onyx. this is found out about in the book 'ghosts of onyx' 1 of the spartans died and another remains to teach other soldiers how to fight.
hope this solved and plot holes in the halo stories. one other thing if you follow this link to a wikipedia page you can see that there are about 8 surviving spartans all together, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPARTAN-II_Project
also 1 of the spartans called SPARTAN-062 "Maria has retired but lives in Songnam, South Korea, on planet Earth, if you have played the halo 2 campaign, when you are testing your new gear he gunnery sgt says it 'just came up from Songnam this morning' if she is on earth and can still use spartan armour then she mighjt make it into the halo 3 game

actually there is no proof that it is the chief, the commercial shows 2 young children, it could be john and maybe his friend kelly, see fall of reach book. however they were taken straight to the planet reach until they were in fighting form, they did not go to earth, however the trailer is definitely earth. so i guess its just to shock the audience with the big bang.
one last thing, in the book spartan 117 had ginger hair, the child in the trailer did not.

actually you too are wrong, the face on the spartan is not a bungie employee but a generic face used for all the faces. the only differences between them is texture and colors/shading. this can be seen in the book 'art of halo'
however a bungie employee did get his face in the game, on the level 'containment', the one with the two bases covered in snow, if you look at the halo ring with a sniper rifle one of the clouds is the image of a persons face smiling, many believe it to be 'Frankie'.
before posting your 'facts' please look them up and verify that they are correct. only 15 days to go and 15 days to find out for sure.

OK i have a couple hundred things to say 1:In multiplayer mode it is not master chief you play as it is a similar spartan(most likely spartanII) 2:Master chief is human 3:Master chief is white with red hair(it says in the books)3:Master chief's ball sack has been removed it says in the books.lol.4:I don't think you'll ever see master chief face, you might hear description but the producers are probably too lazy to do it so they made a helmet.

this will clear up some confusion, i have played the game in legendary mode and all i can say is that you never see his face in the game, you will not see it in halo wars as he does not take place in it, read the 'fall of reach'
he has red hair and is male so people who think its a girl called john are obviously screwed in the head.
and the message above me states his balls were removed, hes not a cat, they don't cut them off, they gave him some injections which remove certain characteristics but leave testosterone which makes him aggressive in combat.
in halo 3 multiplayer, you customise your spartan or elite, the chiefs armor is very noticeable so you couldn't use it for online mode

Ive got a little fact for you,Sergeant Major Avery J. Johnson survived the explosion of the first Halo by escaping in a Pelican drop ship with three other soldiers. They hid in the debris of Halo before being found by Master Chief and Cortana, who were flying in a Longsword fighter. First Strike details the Sergeant Major's rare medical condition, Boren's Syndrome — a nervous system defect resulting from heavy exposure to the electromagnetic fields caused by plasma. Johnson contracted this condition by using a full crate of plasma grenades while he held off the Covenant during the Siege of Paris IV to allow his squad to be evacuated. This condition saved him from the Flood's ability to infest the minds and bodies of hosts; the abnormal frequencies in his nervous system served as a buffer, keeping the Flood out of his mind. Ummm Ok i have something to say about the Promo Vid. Master Chief A.K.A John 117 is the little kid to the right from our view. The reason you cant see his red hair is because its so dark. And the other one is his close friend he had on earth that was taken to the spartan program. And a funny thing about that vid is at first you see a worthog when he gets up then is a quad lol….weird.

Guys.
Inside the helmet is the face of a generic SPARTAN-II or (most likely) SPARTAN-III.
Master Chief's face would be different. Bungie most likely placed that face under the helmet to make people speculate upon it and maybe drag more hype out of the masses.
The books describe John (at a young age) as a boy with brown hair and freckles, with a gap in his teeth. I can see how the tests on Reach and his missions with Blue Team would have altered his appearence, but I don't exactly see it being so dramatically altered that it looks like the face in the video. Some scars are expected, of course.
tl;dr, that is not John-117. That is a SPARTAN-II/III

Half of the people claiming to have read the books are wrong! And most of the people who haven't are wrong. MC is not the last Spartan, there's a Spartan III and Kelly out there. And if any other girls read the book… you'll notice MC is meant to be ATTRACTIVE! Scarred, yes, but NOT UGLY! This may be a face, but I doubt it is John's true face. John? you ask? Read the books.
