The Escapist: “Who are You?”

Role-play is a big part of the human psyche. We engage our minds in role-playing to explore different worlds and live out experiences we would never dream of in real life. Some easily lose themselves in the creative flow of role-playing where others may feel awkward, threatened or out of control. The Escapist explores role-playing in games in this week’s issue 114: “Who Are You?”
Leigh Alexander tells the tale of the rise and fall of Final Fantasy VII roleplay on AOL with “Midgar is Burning.” Russ Pitts explores his virtual sexuality in “Sociolotron: How the Other Half Plays.” Nova Barlow writes about the changing roleplaying scene in “MMO Minus RPG.” In “Holding out for a Heroine” Erin Hoffman laments the need for an accurate female hero. And Greg Tito compares evil in different contexts with “Are you evil?”
The escapist is a magazine covering gamers and gamer culture with flare. It also features the hilariously funny Zero Punctuation. Check out all the gamer goodness at The Escapist.
