The Desks of Gaming’s Greats

Have you ever wondered what kind of work environment Sid Meier inhabits daily? How about Lord British himself? For some reason, I always imagined Richard Garriott having a home office adorned with zany memorabilia or kitsch showcased around him – kind of like many of my college professors. Little did I know…
Kotaku scored big with a collection of photos shared by some of the gaming industry’s greats. While many game devs, producers, etc. tend to be secretive with the public regarding their personal life and/or daily workplace environment, a handful of these brave souls decided they really have nothing to hide. In an article titled Work and Play: A Peek Inside the Lives of Gaming’s Greatest, Kotaku is now showcasing “more than 40 different photo galleries from 17 studios, seven publications, two industry movers and shakers and a couple of fun surprises” with many more to come.
It’s an impressive collection to say the least. I was certainly surprised, even impressed, by many of these desks once matched with their respective owner’s namesake. I suppose we invent our own preconceptions regarding the industry’s more well known names, be it through works, interviews, word of mouth, etc. Even something as simple as a photo of a desk can be humbling, if not proof that such legends are human after all.
