The Darkness – Single Player Demo On XBL

2K Games has released a new demo of The Darkness video game on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. This demo features a single-player experience from three early levels in the game, including the Tunnel, Cemetery and Grinders Lane.
Unless you have been living in a cave since June 25th, The Darkness is a next-gen, FPS that features a gritty storyline written in collaboration with famed comic-book writer, Paul Jenkins. Set in the dark,seedy, and strangely abandoned underbelly of New York City, players experience the role of mafia hitman Jackie Estacado, heir to “The Darkness,†an ancient power that awakens within him on his 21st birthday. Jackie must use traditional weapons as well as learn to command his terrible new powers to seek revenge on his own crime family.
Three suggestions for you:
1) When you kill an enemy, scoop up as much ammo as you possibly can. You are going to waste a lot of it.
2) Do not try and skip Jackie’s monologues – you are forced to endure them while the next area loads. You can mash buttons, scream obscenities, and kick your poor dog all you want – it will not let you skip until it is 99% finished.
3) Rent – don’t buy.
This game was fantastic.. Worth the price paid..

I find it quite lame that given all the main character’s powers, the poor dip still has to find keys for doors. Hell, he can’t even find a way over the cemetery wall! He has to summon one of his darklings to push a damn car out of the way that is blocking the gate. LAME! These are just consequences of the played-out FPS genre. Who thought this was a good idea?
