If you’re keeping score on games that have been banned, chalk up another one. It’s being reported that The Darkness has been banned in Singapore. According to New Era, the distributor who brings games into Singapore from 2K, the title has been officially banned in Singapore for ‘excessive violence.’
In addition, there’s apparently a rumor that Bioshock might be banned in Singapore as well. Is there no end to this nonsense? I’m sure that the folks doing the banning think that they are pursuing some noble cause to protect the youth of their respective countries. However, as we all know by now, the only people hurt by these bannings are the adult gamers who would have legitimately purchased these titles in the first place. Oh well, at least they’ve managed to take the responsibility off the negligent parents who can’t be bothered to peruse what their kids are playing. I guess that’s something.

wow… retarded people ftw. Parenting should be a class in school so when you grow up and decide to have kids you don’t over react to gaming titles that have LOTS OF VIOLENCE OMG and just not buy them.
This is very interesting. I’m not sure about in the States, but in the Asia Pacific region (not including Japan), all XBox360 games are made in Singapore. Everyone of them has a “Made In Singapore” tag on the back and is the easiest way to know that a particular 360 game will work with my asian 360. So considering this, they are actually banning a game which they are being paid to produce?
Singapore has some odd laws, but this seems like shooting themselves in the foot.
Well for export purposes, made in Singapore only.
Thats not the strangest thing, PS3 version is being sold but 360 being banned makes no sense at all!!!
Anyway if GTA 4 and Bioshock is being really banned as reported just import from overseas. No harm done other than a lighter wallet.
