It's very possible. We've got friends in Atlanta. I would love to make that trip. The problem is convincing our young gamers that it's strictly business so they can't come to. Doesn't work for us at Origins any more.

No plans as of right now, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out - Atlanta isn't that far away.

That is definitely the case Mr. Toast. One of the other things I think people overlook is that fun is contagious. It is easy to spread and amplify the fun had during a game session. DMs and players alike need to involve each other in the fun.

I've run games where I was just not having fun as a game master and it was reflected in the attitudes and actions of the players - they stopped caring, enjoying the game. Also though it can't be understated that everyone has bad days and often I find that the act of playing can solve that if you are having a good time with the rest of the group - its a social paradigm shift.

I'd agree with that. I've also found that my players tend to respond to my mood, so when I'm letting loose with an evil cackle, they tend to be nervous. If I'm joking and cutting up, they tend to respond in kind.

As a relatively new DnDer (4E) with little prior experience, I can say it is also very important as a player to see the DM having fun too. I agree that seeing people enjoy something you love is an awesome feeling (regardless of what it is) but that also swings the other way.

The DM maybe really into their role and the game but if they don't appear to be having some legit fun then it's no fun for me, the player. And I think the DM's ability to adjust their attitude based on the experience of the players is important. Easing into rules, tactics, etc. is most important to have the players come away with the desire to play again.
