Over at SpawnPoint, they have compiled a list of the ten most influential people in gaming history. While I am sure there are some who have been omitted, they have focused mainly on the household and industry names. I have to say that I agree with their choices, plus, how can you argue about Will Wright or Miyamoto being on any influential gaming list?
Who ARE the most influential people in the PC/gaming evolution?
- Nolan Bushnell – Notables: Pong, Atari, Chuck E. Cheese
- Shigeru Miyamoto – Notables: Nintendo, Mario, Zelda
- Dani Bunten Berry – M.U.L.E., Command HQ, Global Conquest
- Sid Meier – Notables: Fireaxis, Civilization, Pirates, Railroad Tycoon
- John Carmack – Notables: I D, Wolfenstein, Quake, every FPS you’ve played since thanks to him
- Will Wright – Notables: Maxis, SimCity, The Sims, Spore, SimEarth, SimFarm, SimAnts
- Minh Le and Jesse Cliffe – Notables: Counter-Strike
- Warren Robinett – Notables: Atari, Adventure, Easter egg
- Peter Molyneux – Populous, Black&White
- Gabe Newell – Notables: Half life
- Worthy: Garry Gygax – Notables: Dungeons and Dragons

2. Shigeru Miyamoto – Notables: Nintendo, Mario, Zelda
Outstanding. He is by far a god in the eyes of I. I have no idea what my life would be without Mario and Zelda series.
how about Bill Roper from blizzard, and now flagship?. diablo and hellgate london’s gotta count
my life would be boring if i had never discovered quake, doom and me favorite, half-life
how about Ken Lobb from the good ol’ days at Rare before Free Radical?
I mean, Goldeneye 64!
Uhhh hello……. where is Kojima Leslie Benzies and The Houser brothers??
Sure everyone in yr list deserves to be there but c’mon. Mario was a HUGE game and still is but it wasn’t a life changing experience (as far as gaming goes). Just a bit of fun the GTA series starting with GTAI changed my gaming life forever!! Zelda and Mario did no such thing.
I think Richard Garriott aka Lord British should definitely be on the list. He showed RPGs the way with 20 yrs of his Ultima series.
yes Richard Garriot should be ojn that list
Hey visit the website, its Facebooks new religion, join the gamer religion, or at least add something to it.
What about anybody from Squaresoft/enix???
Those RPG’s are huge to gaming history and still are.
