Ten Greatest Video Game Flops Of All Time

Phear The PhrogWell, at least the ten greatest according to GamePro.com.

This newly compiled Top Ten List (or should that be Bottom Ten List?) will complement the earlier article of Top 25 Bestselling Games of All Time as covered by Gaming Today’s Andrew. GamePro’s list represents more or less the financial failures of the 30 or so years of video game history. Do not let the title mislead you; there are actually a few “good” names to the list. Unfortunately, good doesn’t always equate to success.

Without spoiling the results, I can assure you the top 2 are well deserved in their ranking. I would argue that the #2 spot is probably the worst (overall) video game ever; however, that discussion should be saved for yet another top ten list. I also can’t speak for four of the titles, because, well, I haven’t played them (4,5,6, & 8); which means I am still guilty of playing some real stinkers – most of them to completion. #2 especially, as it has scarred me for life with its frog/mosquito killing simulation (click image above to sample its green hideousness).

Oddly enough, no handheld device games made the list. Is it because handheld’s have superior Q/A? I am certainly not one to answer that question (just a keen observation). Anyway, retrieve your morbid amusement from the link below:

the #1 pick was obvious. Talk about a flop. I heard somewhere that they actually sent more cartridges of the game to the land fill than they sold.
