*Sigh* I’d like to go just one week without hearing some new of video games being blamed for violence. This story’s been making the rounds through the mainstream media today; partly because it’s a horrific crime, and partly because it involves video game violence. In Johnstown, Colorado, a 16-year old girl named Heather Trujillo and her boyfriend, 17-year old Lamar Roberts, are being charged with the death of Heather’s 7-year old sister, Zoe Garcia. On Dec. 6, the two teens were babysitting Zoe while her mother was at work. They all apparently began wrestling by recreating “Mortal Kombat” moves, which resulted in multiple injuries to the little girls and her losing consciousness. The babysitters then apparently cracked an egg in her mouth to see if she was “messing around with them.” When the girl eventually came to, the two teens sent her to bed, only to find her not breathing 15 minutes later. After trying to revive her in the shower and with CPR, they finally called the mother and 911. The two were arrested Tuesday and each face one count of child abuse resulting in death. If convicted, they could face 16 to 48 years in jail.
I know this is a really tragic story, but I don’t get how Mortal Kombat came into this case at all. I’ve only got this article from the Rocky Mountain News to go on, but there’s no mention that either of the two teens specifically said they were basing their actions on “Mortal Kombat.” It sounds just too suspiciously like a way for either their attorneys (or maybe the reporting newspaper) to trump up interest in the story. And for that matter, 16-year olds still play Mortal Kombat? Who knew?

The newspaper probably made the Mortal Kombat part to get attention from the world because apparently teens deaths and attacks on schools are caused by games like GTA and Bully
WOW! This is so typical. I’m not talking about the article, but how people actually protect this stuff. HELLO! A 7 year old was killed! It’s ridiculous how you protect this!
the Mortal Kombat part is such BS
, no ones played that thing since 1988, those two have no idea what Mortal Kombat is.
So Sad the little girl had to die though
, those two are the most irresponsible and they will pay for their actions, I hope they get the full punishment and serve all 48 years with no parole. I bet it was all the boyfriend’s idea, and what parents leave their 7 yo home alone with the 16 yo Sister and her 17 yo Boyfriend? She’s just covering up the real story just to protect him, stupid biatch.
I could be wrong, but didn’t Johnny Cage break an egg into the enemies’ mouth as a friendship? I think it was his way of making them an omelette, but silly Johnny Cage was a horrible cook, so he didn’t know any better.
In the end, it’s the thought that counts Johnny. You get an A+ for effort.
Johnny Cage’s friendship was autographing a picture of himself…
sheesh…..no one remembers the good ‘ol days….when murder use to be murder, and MK was kickass
good riddance….2 more teen delinquents locked up in prison
Wow, that shit is fuckin ridiculous. He’s black, he obviously tied up the girlfriend and made her watch as he raped her little sister, the girls mouth dried up so he cracked an egg in it for lube. Case solved. 48 yrs in prison for “Lamar Roberts” He OBVIOUSLY doesn’t play Mortal Kombat. LOOK at the guy FFS…That’s a future child mollester my friends.
Whoah, fuck the kid tbh. I wanna know what finisher the nigger used on that white little ass.
@Kirby: My bad.. I guess it was Smoke’s friendship then
why are people talkin about sex on here if u guys didn’t notice a little girl just died cause some dumbass teens wanted to react to a game who the hell does that anymore i hope they serve there time mybe they can grow up a little in there
for one thing, mortal combat hasn’t been played since 1998, not 88. and the part about mortal kombat, i agree was just put in there for publicity. it also sounds to me like these two teens were just trying to intertain the little girls and not actually hurt them. it’s sad that the girl died, but notice this article doesn’t even mention what the cause of death was.
When are they going to start blaming Mario games for stuff? That’s what I’d like to know. I mean stomping on turtles and throwing fireballs at people isn’t exactly peaceful..
The kid probably said “I was acting like I was in mortal kombat” or something stupid like that and the news jumped all over it. When I broke my brothers noise by playing baseball and throwing like I was in the major leagues my parents didn’t call Major league baseball officials to tell their pitchers to pitch differently.
A truly sad story involving a bunch of very stupid teens but video games are not to blame, the parents are.
that idiot that wrote the original article is an effin’ idiot. Since when did they ever wrestle in the Mortal Kombat series!??. What a sensationalist whore!
Ok … here is a BIG FLAW too.. there is no mention in THIS artical that the guy was TOTALY wasted.. and drunk as hell…. That totaly couldnt have been the reason this all happend.. … its obviously the games .. And in the offical Artical there is only a little mention of drinking.
It isnt the games fault. Its the person fault for trying to mimic the moves in the game.
what the hell thats bs why kill a 7 year old girl
bdm your right
This is the by far the most hilarious thing i’ve ever heard of A+
