Illustrative Rendering In Team Fortress 2

You know, I honestly never realized how much work went into the cell shaded process. As big as the words are that are used in this video, you have to admit that it’s all very interesting and makes you really appreciate the work that went into Team Fortress 2.

One very interesting topic this video discusses is the fact that due to the art style chosen for Team Fortress game, players will be able to distinguish betweens what characters your looking at simply by the shape (or silhouette) of the character. That’s something a lot of games nowadays don’t take advantage of. The shapes of characters look too much alike and the only real difference between them is just a new skin over a similar shape.

I am so playing this game when it comes out.

I wonder if my old TF buddies will too?

Talk about a near 10 year reunion.

I cannot wait for this and Portal to come out. Valve are easily the best developers out there. Cell Shading in an online FPS will be cool!
