Take Two Interactive Delays GTA IV

You won’t be seeing Grand Theft Auto IV in time for the holidays, unfortunately. The game was slated to be released on October 16, but according to Take Two Interactive’s recent press release, it’s not coming until their second fiscal quarter of 2008, which loosely means anywhere from January to March of next year.
“Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360â„¢ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete [GTA IV],” the press release states. “The title is now planned for release in the Company’s second quarter of fiscal 2008.”
Too bad for both fans of the game and for the PlayStation 3, as the titles which are going to be released for the console will inevitably drive their sales. But maybe it will just mean Sony’s Christmas will come a little later than they planned.

There are so many big name games coming out in late '07, that this honestly doesn't bother me too much, but it's still disappointing that I'll have to wait until the new year in order to get my next-gen GTA fix. I guess I'll just keep myself preoccupied with Halo 3 & Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Wow, this wasn't expected. Quite a delay.
You don't think this has anything to do with a certain game called Halo 3, do you?

Well Microsoft's so called perfect storm is crumbling. Their next Tom Clancy game that was due this month which was going to be a timed exclusive for them has been delayed to 08. Devil May Cry, a multiplatform title is delayed to 08. Then GTA4 is delayed to 08. GTA4 was one of their 3 Major Games.

Honestly, judging from what we saw at E3, this is not a surprise. We were told that so much of the game was a placeholder that we couldn't believe it could be released on time. Looks like we were right.
