Hideo Kojima made an appearance at Sony’s press conference to introduce a big Metal Gear Solid game for its new pocket size portable. The new PSP Go has Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in the works. This full Solid Snake game takes place in 1974, ten years after MGS3 making it a true successor.
With E3 2009 in full swing Gaming Today is swimming in trailers for so many awesome games, you’ll forget how slow the first five months of 2009 were. I’ll try to fire off as many as I can in short bursts. Enjoy the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker E3 trailer after the break.

The Sony press conference for E3 2009 is set to prepare gamers for the return of a juggernaut. Sony’s had a tough year for its PS3 console, but things are looking up. This is Sony’s year to make the most expensive console on the market profitable. With God of War III, Heavy Rain, Batman Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2 and MAG on the horizon, this year’s E3 press conference promises to give gamers a reason to pick up a PS3. I’ll be blogging live as Sony wows gamers with 364 new PS3, PSP and PS2 titles. Check out the running commentary after the break.

This is the first time in 4 years that I’ve not been scrambling and hurrying to get things ready for my trip to E3. I wish I could say I was disappointed because there is the faint chance that this year E3 might be something more akin to a sane version of my first visit to the LA convention center in 2006.
However I can’t help wondering why E3 excites anyone anymore.

Brand new footage from Naughty Dog’s action adventure sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has been released. Clocking in at just under six minutes, the footage shows off more of the game’s single player aspect.
By jumping over walls, flipping over objects, etc., we can see from the video that not only is the game’s protagonist, Nathan Drake, able to interact with the environment, but the enemy AI will do so as well. Uncharted 2’s departure from Tomb Raider-esque jungles to a war torn urban setting certainly gives the game an eerily resemblance to Metal Gear Solid 4.
Most notably, as we watch Nathan zig-zag throughout the city rubble as the enemy patrols the area, the possibilities of stealth play become apparent. And just like the original, the sequel will certainly be delivering in the eye candy department again.
My favorite part of the video has to be the riot shield interception shown towards the end. I laughed.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is slated to arrive this fall for the Playstation 3 console.

There have been rumors all over the internet for the last few months that Sony will be replacing the PSP with a new one. Some say that it will have no UMD drive, and others say that it will feature a sliding screen, and maybe even a second analog stick.
Well, we may be able to put those rumors to rest. According to what 1UP.com calls “sources directly involved with the new system”, Sony will indeed be revealing a brand new PSP at E3 in June of this year. These same sources also claim that instead of calling this new handheld the PSP 2, it will have a subtitle.
Even more interesting, 1UP also adds that the new PSP will be sold in two SKUs, one with eight, and one with sixteen gigabytes of memory. Due in large part to the new handheld having no UMD drive, Sony will have over 100 titles available for download at launch, with one of the featured titles being Gran Turismo Mobile.
As usual, Sony had no comment on this information, saying only that it “does not comment on rumors or speculation.”
More on the new PSP, and an idea of what the new handheld might look like, hit the jump.

Karaoke game enthusiasts and people who just love to sing can now rejoice if they are the proud owners of Sony’s SingStar games.
When Sony released SingStar for the PS3, the game was supposedly to come with a nice modern wireless microphone but instead came with the one PS2 users have been using since the game’s inception. This did not go over well with the living room stars, and they have (understandably) complained about it ever since. Thanks to word from Kotau though, it looks as though Sony is finally going to pony up a new mic for the SingStar games.
According to a post over on SingStar’s MySpace page, there is a contest (now closed) going on where you can win a wireless mic before they hit the streets. The mic is currently going through public testing and should be out sometime in 2009. Is there a bonus for those who have waited so long? Yes indeed. The wireless mic will work on both systems. Yay! More catterwalling, moonwalking, and thrashing around for all (at least if the commercials are any indication of how people play this game)!

The download will automatically install once you pop in the disc and will allow as many swap-outs as you wish during your karaoke session and of special note just in case you were curious, all of your DLC will still be available.
So, get to singing you crazy karaoke fans.

Sony has revealed through a recent press release a bittersweet announcement of sorts for fans of the God of War series. According to the company, God of War 3 is the last installment of the franchise and will mark the “epic conclusion” to the tale of the heroic and brutal Spratan, Kratos.
Anyone who watched the teaser trailer that was unveiled during the Spike TV Video Game Awards can tell you that the video was decently cool, but if this is the last of the series and they are expecting him to go out with a “bang” they better do Kratos and gamers a solid by literally giving us something that we can be satisfied with and more than anything worthy of His Destructiveness.
This time around, Kratos is rampaging through Mt. Olympus and Hell itself, reeking havoc on the gods who have betrayed him. Per his usual way of slaughtering his foes, he will be wielding his double-chained blades against mythological creatures and any other poor sap who has the misfortune to cross his bloody path of revenge.

Looks like Nintendo executives are rolling around in more money than ever if the NPD numbers for the month of November are any indication. Apparently the Wii sold over two million units in the U.S. which is twice as many as the same month for last year and if you add in the 1.57 million units sales of the Nintendo DS for November, you have some very happy people over at Nintendo.
Hardware and accessories brought in $2.91 billion for the month with console and handhelds claiming $1.21 billion of that figure.
Here are the top selling consoles and handhelds for the month of November:
- Wii – 2.04 million
- DS – 1.57 million
- Xbox 360 – 836,000
- PSP – 421,000
- PlayStation 3 – 378,000
- PlayStation 2 – 206,000
