Satisfying board/card game fans once again, this week’s Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday brings Lost Cities. Like Jonathan, I’ve never had the opportunity to play the real life card version of the game, but from what I’ve read and heard, it’s a really fun game. With the inclusion of online play for up to four players and achievements, this could be another sleeper hit on XBLA. It beats the hell out of another retro release, that’s for sure.
The game costs 800 Microsoft Points, or $10, and is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Sierra has many titles in the works right now, and the ones scheduled for release sometime this year will stay on schedule. However, the titles that are currently in development and scheduled for a 2009 release are to have their fate decided soon by Activision.
Those of us who are eagerly anticipating The Bourne Conspiracy, Prototype, Brutal Legend, or Ghostbusters should just sit back, relax and wait for our games to hit shelves - they are safe. Sierra titles for 2009 though will have to be resubmitted to Activision and go through the approval process all over again.
Changes always happens when a new company buys your old one, and gaming is no exception. Hopefully all of the hard work that Vivendi’s Sierra line had put into these projects will not have been in vain, but you know something has to go and it may just be something you have looked forward to, so be prepared. One example of a conflict of interest may be Activision’s sequel to F.E.A.R. and Warner/Monolith’s Project Origin - I would sincerely hope that Activision is not dense enough to waste the time and money spent on these two massive projects - they may put them on hold, but I doubt they feel the headsman’s axe any time soon.
When corporations merge, loads of changes happen and it is not always for the better. We will just have to wait and see how this goes down.

Sierra Online’s Connie Brammeier, senior producer of the Xbox 360 LIVE Battlestar Galactica Game recently took time to talk with Riottt’s Paul Semel about the game. The BSG game is a top-down space shooter. Brammeier reveals why Sierra went old school with the title and talks about what makes this game unique in a galaxy of games from this genre. She also answers a question that fans of the series are sure to ask; Can you say “Frak” in a game rated E 10+ For Everyone 10+?

Coming soon to the PC and Xbox Live Arcade is Battlestar Galactica sans Dirk Benedict as our favorite ladies man Lt. Starbuck. Ah….. the good ole days of 70’s era television just flashed before my eyes when I saw the trailer and screens for this new game from Sierra Online. Not only did it bring back childhood memories of my crush on Lt. Starbuck, I also got a little misty-eyed as I remembered my handheld Battlestar Galactica ‘Space Alert’ battery operated game from Mattel - which by the way still works great even if the sound does drag a little. But this post is not suppose to be trip down memory lane, it is suppose to give you a bit of information regarding the new game from Sierra, so without further ado, here we go.
Inspired by the newest version of the series airing on the SCI FI Channel, Battlestar Galactica will be available sometime this fall. No official set date has been given, so just check back often for more information. For the time being, fans of the series can download themepacks and other assets from the show on Xbox Live Marketplace.

“We’re huge fans of Battlestar Galactica and are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a game inspired by the TV series,” said Ed Zobrist, president of Sierra Online. “NBC Universal is working closely with us so that players will be able immerse themselves in the Battlestar Galactica universe and re-live their favorite missions from the TV series.”
Developed by Australian-based Auran Games, the game will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes and allow the player to take part in space battles as a pilot for either the humans or Cylon forces. Ships from the television show will be featured as well as missions based on favorite episodes.
The popular TV series has received rave reviews from the press. Entertainment Weekly said “Battlestar Galactica is TV’s next great cult hit” and Variety said “Battlestar Galactica achieves what only the best science fiction can…”
We’ll see what everyone says about the game once it is released, but until then enjoy the screens and and if you want to see more assets, there are two more brand new gameplay trailers here and here. Check out the game synopsis along with features after the break.
