Namco Bandai has revealed a batch of new screenshots for Soul Calibur IV which confirm the presence of three returning fighters. In addition to the more infamous Yoda and Darth Vader, the cast will also include past favorite, Talim, Rock, and Yoshimitsu. Their different appearances though ahve changed quite a bit, with Talim looking like a gypsy pirate, Yoshimitsu looking like an alien samurai, and Rock donning the head of a rhino. I’m sure there’s a reason for these new styles, but the story’s for these games has never really been what draws me to them. You can check out more screens of the returning cast here.

Ivy and her giant sweater meat be damned, the main draw in Soul Calibur IV is the the gorgeous imagery and the fighting styles -not the massive knockers - and these new screens prove it.First off, we have Rock (Nathaniel) wearing his Rhino head. Then comes Talim who looks like a cross between a genie and a pirate, and last but not least is Yoshimitsu who, if I am being honest with you, scares me a little bit.

Soul Calibur IV will finally be released on July 29 and the limited Premium edition package will hit that day as well. Both editions will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. For more details on the game, check out our previous posts here.

Korn's Haze Music Video Takes Me Back to High School

Haze `Korn` Video

When a performance starts with the words, “This is a special song we wrote for a video game,” you know you’re in for something interesting. The rock group Korn apparently recorded a song specifically for the upcoming video game Haze that’s titled — surprise, surprise — “Haze.” The video pretty much just mixes some game footage with video of them performing the song live. The whole thing though just gives me flashbacks to high school, followed by a sudden urge to listen to a bunch of classical music to wash my brain.

Def Leppard to be Featured in Guitar Hero 4

Posted by Stephany on Thursday, March 27th, 2008 at 12:01 pm under Sony, Activision, Gamer Life, Nintendo, Microsoft, Games, Game Consoles, Game Companies

def leppard

Well it’s about damn time if I do say so myself. I figured that Def Leppard, who pretty much dominated the 80’s rock and pop charts, would have appeared on Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80’s or at least showed up as downloadable content for Legends of Rock, but apparently Activision was saving the union-jack attired band for another game.

News comes down to us today, thanks to an interview with Rockline, that Joe Elliot and the boys will be one of the featured artists on Guitar Hero 4 when it is released later this year. I listened to this interview yesterday whilst doing a few things around the house and apparently I missed that little tidbit. Not that I am saying it isn’t true, I just did not hear that part, and if I had I would have jumped back on here to tell you about it.

The songs expected to be included are as follows:

  • Photograph
  • Rock of Ages
  • Animal

“Animal” happens to be one of my least favorite of their hits because I think the lyrics are very silly, but I am not complaining because I am just happy to have any Def Leppard instead of no Def Leppard. It even makes me want to whip out my beat up Union-Jack muscle shirt, red parachute pants and high top Reeboks and wear them around the house. Yes, I wore that back in 7th grade for a while - wanna fight about it? It is not my fault really, I went to a catholic school up until middle-school and did not know that real people did not wear what your favorite bands did in real life - esp said outfit and being female. I was so used to blue plaid that I was completely out of touch with the world of fashion.

Anyway, enough of my rambling about silly fashion faux pas as a child.

When more information on this fun news develops we will be sure to let you know!

Boston Coming to Rock Band Next Week

Posted by Jonathan on Friday, March 21st, 2008 at 2:58 pm under Sony, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

Next week’s Rock Band DLC will feature six songs by the classic/awesome rock group, Boston. The songs can either be purchased individually for 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) each or altogether for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99), and I’d assume the same prices will apply to the PSN releases. The songs we’ll be getting are:

  • “More Than a Feeling” (Master)
  • “Peace of Mind” (Master)
  • “Smokin’” (Master)
  • “Rock & Roll Band” (Master)
  • “Something About You” (Master)
  • “Hitch a Ride” (Master)

Woo! Yeah, I’ve actually really been wanting some more Boston for Rock Band, so I’m practically giddy with anticipation (now, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for some Journey). But since I’m also a fan of the TV show, Scrubs, here’s a clip of an air band performing “More Than a Feeling” to give you an idea of how you and friends should look when you get together to perform:

Mega Man Rockin' Out

Posted by Jonathan on Friday, June 1st, 2007 at 11:17 pm under Gamer Life, Videos

The video above has some fast-paced clips of Mega Man 2 set to a rock version of the song from Bubble Man’s stage — arguably one of the best video game songs in history. So what sets this apart from the man other rock versions of this song? There’s actually someone singing to it (terribly at that). I have no idea what the lyrics are though, since they’re all in Japanese. They could be about Mega Man, they could about two lovers breaking up, they could be about the state of economic trade tariffs in Europe. Really, it’s a mystery. Or, and I’m sticking with this theory, it’s some guy howling while getting whacked in the back of the head to the beat by a baseball bat.
