When we heard the news regarding the Aerosmith addition to the Guitar Hero franchise back in February we were all a bit skeptical about how well a “band specific” game would fare. Then, we got word that there would be other bands included in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith that have inspired the band, or would be “opening acts” for the band in the game.Today, news has reached our ears that some of the other acts included in the game would be the following artsists:
- Mott the Hoople - “All the Young Dudes”
- The Kinks - “All Day and All Night”
- Joan Jett - “Hate Myself for Loving You”
- Cheap Trick - “Dream Police”
What is up with the crappy Cheap Trick songs? They have released much better songs than “Dream Police”, and “Surrender” and if you have ever been to one of their shows you would know this. What about “I Want You to Want Me”? That is their biggest hit.
Now, as far as Joan Jett goes, I understand that “I Hate Myself for Loving You” was probably her biggest hit since “I Love Rock N Roll”, but “Do Ya Wanna Touch” rocks harder, is less cheesey, and just all around more fun.
As far as the Kinks and Mott the Hoople are concerned: Ray Davies is very cool and can certainly hold his liquor as a friend of mine and I can attest, and Mott the Hoople owes everything they have to David Bowie who wrote ” All the Young Dudes” and ex-member Ian Hunter who is one helluva song writer and musician.
I guess we will have to see which other bands will be included in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, but so far it is looking to be a giant snooze fest. Which of these songs are actually considered “rocking” I ask you?

It’s that time of week – Rock Band’s new downloadable content has been released on the Xbox Live Marketplace today, with PlayStation 3 content coming in this week’s PlayStation Store update on Thursday. Black Sabbath is the features artist, but don’t expect to hear any of the originals; the three songs included are all covers.
As before, you can purchase the Black Sabbath Pack 01 for 440 Microsoft Points ($5.50) and get all three songs at a discount, or you can purchase any of the three songs – “N.I.B.,” “Sweet Leaf,” and “War Pigs” – individually for 160 points ($2).
Sure, it’d be nice if they weren’t covers, but it beats David Bowie.

David Bowie’s new track pack (which is comprised of three songs, two of which are covers) is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace in bundle form for 440 Microsoft Points, or individually at 160 Microsoft Points. The release marks what I believe is the first time that the title of a piece of Marketplace content has had to be censored, meaning it will subsequently be censored in this news story because A) I don’t want to risk getting in trouble and B) I don’t actually care about David Bowie, and nor does Ron so there’s no one to yell at me.
The three songs are Queen ***** (which is apparently listed as “Queen ***” on Live, because two more asterisks would create mass hysteria) and Heroes, which are the two covers, and Moonage Daydream.
PS3 owners, it’s likely you’ll be getting this Rock Band DLC on Thursday with the usual PlayStation Store update, so you’ll have to wait until then if you want to rock out to David Bowie.

More Rock Band downloadable tracks have surfaced over on ScoreHero and they are pretty decent tracks considering what has already been announced (with the exception of Metallica - whoo hoo!). An addition 24 songs will be available from 17 different artists and this is on top of what has already been announced. I have listed the new content along with the previously announced DLC below- and in case you are wondering, as of this post we only have 10 days, 11 hours and 24 minutes until Rock Band hits stores.
The Who pack:
The Grateful Dead pack:
- “Truckin’”
- “Uncle John’s Band”
- “Touch of Grey”
- “Sugar Magnolia”
- “Casey Jones”
- more to be announced
