I have to hand it to ol’ Fiddy, he sure knows how to look cool, even when he’s doing something ridiculous. Why is he out in the Middle East fighting terrorists? I don’t know, but this trailer for Blood on the Sand of him kicking their collective asses just looks awesome. Still, after the mess that was Bulletproof, I have a hard time imagining the final game being anything above mediocre. Not that any of that will stop hordes of 50 Cent fans from snatching it up.

According to the director for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand the game is not a political statement nor is it based on reality in any way shape or form, just like 50’s life. Well, that last part was just me taking a dig at the rapper and not an actual quote from director Julian Widdows.

In an interview with CVG he states:

“It’s fictional, it’s an ‘everyman’s war zone’, is the way we describe it. It’s an arcade game, so it needs to be implacable in many senses. There’s no geo-political context to this game. It’s clearly a crime story. The arch bad guy - we can’t tell you who it is but it’s a pretty high profile American actor - will be instantly recognisable. But he’s an American. The first key bad guy that you encounter, who you’re actually working for at this point, is an American. The guards you shoot in the third act are all Russian. And so it’s an international crime syndicate which is operating in this everyman’s war zone. It’s the hood beyond the hood. It’s a crime story, a gangland story.”

So what he is basically saying is that it is an equal opportunity game for any baddie ever invented out there in gang game land. What I want to know is, since when is the desert in the Middle East considered “the hood”? Did I miss that being divulged in Civics class or something? In this fictional follow-up story to 50 Cent: Bulletproof , players will be able to play as the hip-hop star in an all-out battle to protect Fiddy’s assets and to collect payment from a crooked overlord.

Sorry, I am having a hard time typing this without dying from uncontrollable laughter.

In 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, gamers can participate in multiplayer drop-in and drop-out co-op, interactive counter-kills, driving, and aerial combat. The game will also feature exclusive unreleased music from 50 Cent and G-Unit.

I considered all sorts of 52 cent jokes, but they all sucked.

Unfortunately, the rumor has proven to be true as MTV News (where else?) has revealed the first details on the newest game to bear 50’s name. Blood on the Sand, as it’s called, won’t be a direct sequel to the horrendous Bulletproof and isn’t being developed by the same studio.

“Once we get the game out there … I think people will realize right away where our focus for the sequel is,” Vivendi Games producer Aaron Blean told MTV News. “We’ve emphasized the gameplay quality [more] than anything this time around. We can’t wait to show the game around.”

Word is mum on just what the “Blood on the Sand” title refers to or what the game is really about. What we do know is that 50 himself played a big part in developing the story – so you know it’ll be good.

The game is being built on Unreal Engine 3 and will feature a co-op style experience (which MTV refers to as being Gears of War-esque, although Army of Two sounds more accurate) where one player will control 50 Cent, and either the computer or a friend online will take control of the second character.

Supposedly rapper, thug, gangsta, Eminem bff, ex-con, entrepreneur, Kanye West hatin’ 50 Cent is set to star in his second videogame.According to EGM, the follow-up to 50 Cent: Bulletproof, tentatively titled 50 Cent II is a third-person shooter that puts 50 and his “G-Unit” homies in the middle east caught between warring factions after being stiffed for their payment for a concert performance. It is currently in development by Swordfish Studios and will be published by Sierra.
