Another short trailer from Gamer’s Day featuring footage from the upcoming Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise.
Not much is really shown in the video, other than the cool colors, loud piñatas, and a small clip of a moose getting wacked, but it still looks like it going to be just as zany and fun as the last installment.

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise Co-Op Details Emerge

Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at 8:16 am under Games Industry, Gamer Life, Microsoft, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

viva pinata trouble in paradise

Want more lovely details for the new Viva Pinata game Trouble in Paradise that Chris was talking about yesterday? Look no further folks because here they are:

  • There will be over 100 different Piñatas in the sequel, including a chicken called ‘Cluck Norriss’, a Yeti (hey, that’s my dog’s name!), gorillas and moose that during Christmas time changes into a reindeer
  • You can quickly go from one landscape to the next such as snowy winter wonderlands to deserts to catch these animals and share them with the whole wide world
  • There is a special in-game card that will give you infinite amounts of money and will unlock every item in the game
  • The game starts in a green control area where you can jump straight into the action without a tutorial so that you do not have to do all the weeding and fertilizing if you do not want to
  • All help missions are optional
  • Jump straight into the sandbox and play with your garden as you see fit
  • You will start with more upgrade tools and money than you did in the first game, that way all you have to do is start enticing Piñatas into your garden and send them off to special parties and birthdays
  • Cooperative play will feature the game and you can tend your gardens with pals and while this is only for direct play with the Xbox 360 at this point, Rare is working around the clock to implement this feature on XBL.
  • In co-op mode, only the main player will have full control over the game and will not be able to build new houses or other constructions, but can help with tending the garden thus gaining a form of magic for every uselful act than can be used to turn objects in the garden into different things

Sounds like loads of fun. More details, like with Fable 2 and Banjo-Kazooie 3 will be released later this afternoon so check back with us as more detail emerge.

God of War III Now Up for Preorder on Amazon

Posted by Stephany on Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at 11:18 am under Sony, Gamer Life, Sony, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

god of war III

Not much has been divulged regarding God of War III other than your normal “coming soon” and “we are working on it” sound bites from Sony. Not even a concrete release date has even been hinted around at other than “late 2009″.

Has this stopped the speculation or rumors? Heck no, because Amazon has it up for preorder right now and are listing the release date as March 2, 2009. That is 10 months from now. Take this release date with a grain of salt until official word comes down from Sony, but check it out nonetheless.

Also, I am hoping against all hope, that the cover art for the game that they are showing is just temporary because Kratos is just too bleeping cool not to be featured on the cover of his own game.

Check back with us often for updates.

Thanks for the Tip: Mrjuandrful

Bloody Awesome Screens for Ninja Gaiden 2

Posted by Stephany on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 3:39 pm under Gamer Life, Microsoft, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

ninja gaiden 2

Ninja Gaiden 2 is all over the news recently, especially since the fervor for GTA IV is (thankfully) starting to die down a bit. This highly anticipated game is looking pretty awesome, and the trailers I posted earlier can attest to that. However, these screenshots are nothing short of bloody awesome - and the lovely red blood flying about against Ryu’s black ninja suit as he decapitates monsters just makes me want to play the game all the more.

We have plenty more screens for your viewing pleasure over on FileFront, which span the months since the first screen trickled onto the internet. To check them all out, click here.

Big-Ish Announcement for Fable 2 Coming Next Week

Posted by Stephany on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 2:35 pm under Games Industry, Gamer Life, Microsoft, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

fable 2

A spokesperson over on the Fable 2 forums named Sam, who also works for the Lion Head Studios site according to his profile, has given people itching for new information on Fable 2 something to be be gagging over until next week. Why next week you ask? Because that is when an announcement will take place regarding the hyped but not really hyped sequel to the mediocre first installment in the series.

According to Sam:

“A lot is happening. If you are anxious to find out something new about Fable 2, I suggest you make sure you’ve got access to the internet, next week! Yes we are planning something (quite) big-ish.”

Whatever this “big-ish” news is we will be sure to let you know about it the moment we find out. Hopefully this time it will not involve more gambling and hookers. Although that would make Bender a very happy robot indeed.

Rise of the Argonauts Looking Better With Every Screenshot

Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, April 29th, 2008 at 9:09 am under Codemasters, Gamer Life, Sony, Microsoft, Games, Computer, Game Companies

rise of the argonauts

I have been looking forward to the release of Rise of the Argonauts for over a year now. The screens that Codemasters and Liquid Entertainment have been releasing lately are drop dead gorgeous and while I am not sure if theses are from cutscenes or actual gameplay (I am presuming the former) they are very vibrant and tantilising to be sure.

With deep exploration and epic quests, players will take the role of Jason, King of Iolchis, and battle alongside iconic mythological heroes including Hercules, Achilles, Atalanta and others. As Jason grows from young king to true legend, set sail aboard the Argo and explore the vast Aegean – a dynamic world of islands filled with shining cities, lush jungles and deep forests.

Gamers will leave their mark on ancient Greece as they engage in blood-spurting combat against hordes of enemy warriors, ruthless beasts and mythological creatures. Whether Jason is lopping off heads or cutting warriors in half with his sword or if Hercules is wrestling with giant beasts, hopefully it will be a fun time for all.

Like all true heroes of Greece, the gods follow Jason on his quests. Jason will gain the favour of the gods and earn special abilities, but his actions may please some gods and displease others. Earning a god’s favour will grant players powers within the god’s domain, but drawing a god’s wrath may cause them to inflict a torment on the heroes at the worst possible moment.

For more information as well as a trailer, check out our previous posts. Rise of the Argonauts is expected to be released this fall for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 according to the Codemasters website.

Development Progress for Tomb Raider: Underworld Encouraging

Posted by Stephany on Friday, April 25th, 2008 at 9:09 am under Eidos, Gamer Life, Portable, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Games, Computer, Game Consoles, Game Platforms

tomb raider underworldAccording to SCi, the parent company for Eidos, they are so pleased with the developmental progress of Tomb Raider: Underworld, that they have seen fit to provide gamers with a minuscule update on their latest Lara Croft undertaking.

According to SCi:

“Progress with Tomb Raider: Underworld remains encouraging and the game is scheduled for worldwide release before Christmas 2008.”

Tomb Raider: Underworld was originally slated for a June release, Eidos announced back in January that they would be pushing the game back and instead releasing it around Christmas, but this was even pushing it. SCi also reported that because of pushing the game back, the money they were banking on earning through the release would have them report a loss.

However, with the Christmas shopping period being a definite now, the company should garner more profit during such a advantageous time. If you take into consideration that it is being released on multiple platforms, this becomes even more evident - therefore it was probably in their best interest to do this in the first place.

Tomb Raider: Underworld will be released on the DS, PC, PS2, Ps3, Wii and Xbox 360.

I actually wrote up my impressions of the first two episodes of Sam and Max Season Two when the games first started coming out regularly again. Eventually though, I realized that there were only so many ways I could say “if you liked the previous games, you’ll like this one.” So I decided to wait until the full second season was out and give it a full rundown then. The fifth and final episode in Sam and Max Season Two was released last week to a hungry audience, so how does the second season stack up to the first? Well, er, if you liked the previous Sam and Max games, you’ll definitely like these. Read the full article

The Immortals of Terra: A Perry Rhodan Adventure

Some screens from Viva Media and Braingame Publishing’s The Immortals of Terra: A Perry Rhodan Adventure were doled out yesterday, and they don’t look half bad really for a point and click game.

The Immortals of Terra is a space adventure set in 1346 New Galactic Era, 4934 AD, starring Perry Rhodan. The story takes the player from the very top of a majestic floating palace, through the midst of intergalactic intrigue, to deep below the surface of alien worlds. The goal is to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of Perry’s beloved, Mondra Diamond, but soon the plot thickens and the stakes get higher as Perry soon finds out that the fate of the universe is in peril.

  • Gripping action sequences
  • Stunning planets in a vast galaxy to explore

Atari Says Alone in the Dark Coming June 24

Posted by Stephany on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at 12:51 pm under Nintendo, Sony, Atari, Gamer Life, Microsoft, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Computer, Game Companies

alone in the dark

Apparently the reason that Atari kept changing the release date for Alone in the Dark was to give gamers a more polished gaming experience and you can’t really argue with such a reason. Take heart though, because Atari confirmed this morning that Alone in the Dark will hit North America on June 24 and Europe on June 20.According to an Atari representative:

“The game has been delayed to allow Eden Games to polish the game to an even higher standard. We want to deliver the best possible experience to gamer, because we have a remarkable product. We’ve been getting an incredible response from the people that have seen it in demos. We’ll soon be supplying code to the market.”

Granted, PS3 owners will still have to wait until later this year without any set time frame at this point, but PC, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii users can start to finally get excited about it. Hooray!

Resident Evil 5 DVD Hits the Net

Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 10:10 am under Capcom, Videos, Gamer Life, Sony, Microsoft, Games, Game Consoles, Game Companies

The Resident Evil 5 DVD that will be included with the latest “Weekly Famitsu” on March 28 has surfaced on the net and like Miss Cleo, I predicted it would happen and I posted the proof above. I will start taking your calls now, but please note my predictions are for entertainment purposes only, you must be 18 years of age, and I charge $5.99 a minute for my words of wisdom. Make sure you have permission from the person who pays the phone bill before calling.

While I cannot understand a word of Japanese spoken in the video, I am just thankful to view some recent RE5 footage. The majority of the video is just the interview with the producer, but when you get to see the game over the tester’s shoulder, you can’t help but be slightly impressed.

Although I am happy that the game will be making its appearance on the Xbox 360 so that those who do not own a PS3 can get in on the fun, I was kind of hoping this would be a PS3 exclusive. Reason being, it would give me even more ammunition to throw at the “man of the house” when trying to win the argument over buying a PS3.

ESRB: “M” for Mature
Release Date: 3/12/2008

When I first heard that the folks over at Monolith were making a sequel to Condemned: Criminal Origins, I was both excited and leery at the same time, because let’s face it, sequels are not usually up to par with the original. Granted, the God of War titles seem to do justice to our favorite Spartan, but that cannot be said of the majority of sequels sitting on shelves. My initial disquiet over another offering of Ethan Thomas and the maimed world in which he resides seemed to mitigate slightly when I viewed the first set of screenshots from the game, and the more I saw, better I felt. The trailers looked great, the weapon selection was both pacifying and hilarious at the same time, and the overall ambiance the trailers portrayed finally allowed me to let my guard down completely for Condemned 2: Bloodshot. However, before I get too far ahead of myself, I would like to point out that while this was indeed a very fun and entertaining game, it was far from perfect. So far, to be quite honest, that afterwards when I had played through it a second time, I started to feel extremely let down.
