As if the Bayonetta trailer Jonathan posted yesterday from Platinum Games wasn’t cool enough, today we have another trailer from the Japanese gaming company from the upcoming Wii exclusive MadWorld.
This third-person action has a unique black and white style that straddles graphic novels and 3D worlds with blood red splashes - think Sin City. In the game, you will battle opponents using various weapons and items found within the environment, such as chainsaws and street signs, while “sports commentary” is going on the background - think Running Man. Containing both humor and over-the-top violence, MadWorld is definitely going to be a must have for the Wii and should help scour away the squeaky clean image of the console, which is just plain awesome. I can’t stop watching the trailer actually.
MadWorld is expected to launch in North America sometime in the early part of 2009.

Not much has been divulged regarding God of War III other than your normal “coming soon” and “we are working on it” sound bites from Sony. Not even a concrete release date has even been hinted around at other than “late 2009″.
Has this stopped the speculation or rumors? Heck no, because Amazon has it up for preorder right now and are listing the release date as March 2, 2009. That is 10 months from now. Take this release date with a grain of salt until official word comes down from Sony, but check it out nonetheless.
Also, I am hoping against all hope, that the cover art for the game that they are showing is just temporary because Kratos is just too bleeping cool not to be featured on the cover of his own game.
Check back with us often for updates.

GTA IV is pounding the news today, just like we expected that it would. However, one grateful and proud GTA IV owner has decided to share his wonderful bounty with the rest of us peons who have yet to run down and pick up our pre-ordered copy because we have mean old bosses cracking the whip across our necks. Yes, I am talking about our News Manager Ron. He is nothing if not an ogre - but a big cuddly ogre to be sure (brownies points).
Our illustrious PR Manager Daniel is the proud recipient of the GTA IV package I have posted. I do not know what to call this, maybe it is the “Show How Special You Are” edition, or the “Make Your Colleagues Hate You” edition - either way it is effective.
This really cool edition contains nine GTA IV stickers and an 8″ Statue of Liberty Happiness in all of her green glory with a hint of bronze to make her look more authentic. Of course, she is smiling as well. You can check out more pictures of the contents by clicking here.
So let’s all give Daniel a nice, collective “cheers” for receiving such a cool package from Rockstar. Try not to hate him too much, he really is a good guy.

According to SCi, the parent company for Eidos, they are so pleased with the developmental progress of Tomb Raider: Underworld, that they have seen fit to provide gamers with a minuscule update on their latest Lara Croft undertaking.
According to SCi:
“Progress with Tomb Raider: Underworld remains encouraging and the game is scheduled for worldwide release before Christmas 2008.”
Tomb Raider: Underworld was originally slated for a June release, Eidos announced back in January that they would be pushing the game back and instead releasing it around Christmas, but this was even pushing it. SCi also reported that because of pushing the game back, the money they were banking on earning through the release would have them report a loss.
However, with the Christmas shopping period being a definite now, the company should garner more profit during such a advantageous time. If you take into consideration that it is being released on multiple platforms, this becomes even more evident - therefore it was probably in their best interest to do this in the first place.
Tomb Raider: Underworld will be released on the DS, PC, PS2, Ps3, Wii and Xbox 360.

The website for Ghostbusters: The Game officially launched yesterday thanks to the folks over at Sierra.
Featuring an abundant of flash effects, some screens and a few other normal tidbits, it is basically your average, every day, normal, website except that it is Ghostbusters. You can also watch a teaser trailer, play a trivia game, sign up for the newsletter and other fun stuff. I am sure the site will expand more and more as a release date approaches, so be sure to mark it in your favorites.
Ghostbusters: The Game is slated for release sometime this Fall and will be available for multiple platforms.

Sierra Entertainment has launched the new website for Prototype. Now when gamers need their fix, they can just log in and start consuming the ever-evolving compilation of in-depth game information and assets hidden within Protype’s Double-Helix DNA Strand.
They have done a pretty decent job creating an interactive site for the upcoming open-world action game. By entering the correct code sequences, on the site, visitors can unlock and access exclusive new assets, including fresh screenshots, videos and other mysterious images; and as the Helix evolves, new code sequences will become active.
Code sequences will be concealed within print, online and broadcast/television preview features, along with a myriad of other mediums through the end of the year.
You can expect Prototype to be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this Fall.

The Resident Evil 5 DVD that will be included with the latest “Weekly Famitsu” on March 28 has surfaced on the net and like Miss Cleo, I predicted it would happen and I posted the proof above. I will start taking your calls now, but please note my predictions are for entertainment purposes only, you must be 18 years of age, and I charge $5.99 a minute for my words of wisdom. Make sure you have permission from the person who pays the phone bill before calling.
While I cannot understand a word of Japanese spoken in the video, I am just thankful to view some recent RE5 footage. The majority of the video is just the interview with the producer, but when you get to see the game over the tester’s shoulder, you can’t help but be slightly impressed.
Although I am happy that the game will be making its appearance on the Xbox 360 so that those who do not own a PS3 can get in on the fun, I was kind of hoping this would be a PS3 exclusive. Reason being, it would give me even more ammunition to throw at the “man of the house” when trying to win the argument over buying a PS3.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Developer: Monolith
Publisher: SEGA
Price: $59.99
Platform: PS3, Xbox 360
Category: Action/Adventure, Psychological Horror
ESRB: “M” for Mature
Release Date: 3/12/2008
When I first heard that the folks over at Monolith were making a sequel to Condemned: Criminal Origins, I was both excited and leery at the same time, because let’s face it, sequels are not usually up to par with the original. Granted, the God of War titles seem to do justice to our favorite Spartan, but that cannot be said of the majority of sequels sitting on shelves. My initial disquiet over another offering of Ethan Thomas and the maimed world in which he resides seemed to mitigate slightly when I viewed the first set of screenshots from the game, and the more I saw, better I felt. The trailers looked great, the weapon selection was both pacifying and hilarious at the same time, and the overall ambiance the trailers portrayed finally allowed me to let my guard down completely for Condemned 2: Bloodshot. However, before I get too far ahead of myself, I would like to point out that while this was indeed a very fun and entertaining game, it was far from perfect. So far, to be quite honest, that afterwards when I had played through it a second time, I started to feel extremely let down.

Price: $49.99
Platform: Wii
Category: Action/Adventure, FP/RPG
ESRB: “T” for Teen
Release Date: 2/19/2008
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors takes place in a town that lies at the foot of Avalonia Castle. There, a young man enjoys a peaceful life with his lecherous father until his sixteenth birthday approaches and he must take the Walk of the Worthy. This is a trial of strength, which all young Avalonian males must undergo upon coming of age. As the main character, you will need to put all of your training in the ways of the sword into practice if you are to pass the test, and take your rightful place amongst Avalonia’s warriors. Sounds like your typical RPG doesn’t it? Unfortunately the storyline is the only thing typical about Dragon Quest Swords.

A title like “Damnation” practically screams for attention, and luckily, this one may actually deserve some. Codemasters has announced they will be publishing the game from developer Blue Omega Entertainment for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. They’re billing the game as a “shooter gone vertical,” as it will feature sprawling open-world landscapes that will span miles of landscape up in the air as well as on the ground. Players will move about these environments using a variety of acrobatics and vehicle stunts. Basically, it sounds like the sort of game Just Cause tried to be.
So why do I think this game deserves some attention? Really it all has to do with the screenshot above, since it shows a girl shooting people while she rides a freakin’ motorcycle along the side of a building. I’m pretty sure that’s a gaming first. You can check out a few awesome screens for the game here.

Devil May Cry 4 is the fastest selling title ever to grace the franchise, and to prove it, Capcom sent us a press release stating that it has shipped over 2 million units worldwide thus far. That is pretty impressive considering the fact that the game is only 15 days old at best and this number only includes the PS3 and Xbox 360 version because the PC version has not been released yet.
Immersing gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where Nero clashes with series mainstay Dante, in DMC4 players will be able to unleash stylish attacks and combos using a combination of the “Devil Bringer” right arm and the “Exceed” system, both of which are new gameplay mechanics for the series. From what I have heard from people who have played it, DMC4 has expansive environments, more enemies to defeat than ever before, and some of the most difficult bosses ever conceived in the series all wrapped up in a very pretty package.

We have finally been given a release date window for Legendary, the FPS from Gamecock and Spark Unlimited. It will be available for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer, and while this release window is just for the UK; it is also being co-published by Atari so a North American release should happen around the same time.
Formally known as Legendary: The Box, they have dropped the later part of the title, thankfully, and hopefully this tale of an art thief and his idiotic idea to open Pandora’s Box will be a really cool game. It looks and sounds interesting anyway.
For more information on Legendary, we have been covering it on and off for months so click here, here, and here to get the full scoop.

Funcom and Eidos have announced that over 500,000 gamers from all over the world have signed up to become a member of the Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures community by either signing up for the ongoing beta test or by joining the ‘Clan of Conan’ official fan club. Funcom has in turn responded to the growing numbers by introducing websites and forums for the English, German, French and Spanish market to support the launch in all of these territories.
“The massive attention Age of Conan is generating throughout the international gaming community is simply amazing,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “The game seems to be already striking a chord with gamers across the world and we are thrilled and motivated by all the positive feedback we have been getting from both the press and the community.”
Not only are the growing numbers a very strong indication on Age of Conan’s popularity pre-launch, the entire development process is getting its share of love, by the constantly increasing numbers of gamers signing up to join the beta test. This allows Funcom to thoroughly test numerous aspects of the game, which will hopefully contribute to a smoother launch and a more enjoyable gaming experience from day one.

We have been throwing screenshots at you left and right for Viking: Battle for Asgard since August, and while they do indeed look pretty darn cool, the ones they sent us today seem a bit repetitive. At first glance that is. On the surface, they look like more of the same - blurry blood-soaked battle images featuring a hoard of men and creatures hacking at each other in an endless gore fest. While this is always a good thing, the screens do not reveal much else about the game more than what we already know. Granted, we get an up-close and personal view of a horrid looking monster who looks as though he could smash you into the dirt leaving nothing but a greasy spot on his foot and a shot showing a flying menace swooping through the air that appears to be either a dragon or a dragon teradactyl hybrid. Yet, nothing else that would give us an idea of gameplay mechanics, weapon usage, or an broader idea of what the storyline entails.
The one thing the new screens do reveal is a female who will be making an appearance in the game. We do not know if she will be a protagonist who fights along side of Skarin, the Viking Goddesses Freya or Hel incarnate, or some sort of antagonistic Lolita out to destroy our hero. Whoever she is, she is in the game, and they sent us some artwork depicting her along with a blurry screen of her standing in a blaze.
Viking: Battle for Asgard is expected to hit retail shelves in March for the PS3 and Xbox 360. In the meantime, be sure and check back with us often as more info on Creative Assembly and SEGA’s latest hack and slash is sure to head our way as it gets closer to release. You can view more of the new screens here.

Black Lion Studios has announced Shadow Harvest, a 3D tactical-action game in development for the PC and Xbox 360. The game is dual character shooter inspired by the elite US army special operations unit ISA (Intelligence Support Activity). Though the graphics are ultra realistic, the game isn’t meant to be a hardcore military sim. The action is built around of framework of interactive storytelling.
SHADOW HARVEST is set in the year 2025. The player takes control over two ISA agents (Myra Lee and Aron Alvarez) which are are deployed as elite black-ops agents on various current and future points of conflict around the globe to cooperatively complete covert operations. Both characters are very different from each other and also have very different special skills. To optimally achieve all mission goals, the player needs to combine Myra’s stealth skills, cleverness and athletic abilities with Aron’s blunt open battle approach.
I often find that when a game strives to straddle genres, it can end up falling short of pleasing fans of either genre. I hope that Shadow Harvest is able to appeal to both audiences.
For a first look at Shadow Harvest, check out more screenshots like the one above on FileFront.
