New Trailer for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Looks Awesome; Game Probably Isn't

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Video (QT/720)

I have to hand it to ol’ Fiddy, he sure knows how to look cool, even when he’s doing something ridiculous. Why is he out in the Middle East fighting terrorists? I don’t know, but this trailer for Blood on the Sand of him kicking their collective asses just looks awesome. Still, after the mess that was Bulletproof, I have a hard time imagining the final game being anything above mediocre. Not that any of that will stop hordes of 50 Cent fans from snatching it up.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Has No Political Overtones

Posted by Stephany on Friday, April 4th, 2008 at 11:23 am under Microsoft, Sony, Gamer Life, Game Consoles, Computer, Game Platforms, Games, Game Companies

50 cent blood on the sand

According to the director for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand the game is not a political statement nor is it based on reality in any way shape or form, just like 50’s life. Well, that last part was just me taking a dig at the rapper and not an actual quote from director Julian Widdows.

In an interview with CVG he states:

“It’s fictional, it’s an ‘everyman’s war zone’, is the way we describe it. It’s an arcade game, so it needs to be implacable in many senses. There’s no geo-political context to this game. It’s clearly a crime story. The arch bad guy - we can’t tell you who it is but it’s a pretty high profile American actor - will be instantly recognisable. But he’s an American. The first key bad guy that you encounter, who you’re actually working for at this point, is an American. The guards you shoot in the third act are all Russian. And so it’s an international crime syndicate which is operating in this everyman’s war zone. It’s the hood beyond the hood. It’s a crime story, a gangland story.”

So what he is basically saying is that it is an equal opportunity game for any baddie ever invented out there in gang game land. What I want to know is, since when is the desert in the Middle East considered “the hood”? Did I miss that being divulged in Civics class or something? 50 cent blood on the sand

In this fictional follow-up story to 50 Cent: Bulletproof , players will be able to play as the hip-hop star in an all-out battle to protect Fiddy’s assets and to collect payment from a crooked overlord.

Sorry, I am having a hard time typing this without dying from uncontrollable laughter.

In 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, gamers can participate in multiplayer drop-in and drop-out co-op, interactive counter-kills, driving, and aerial combat. The game will also feature exclusive unreleased music from 50 Cent and G-Unit.

First Details on New 50 Cent Game – Yes, It’s Real

Posted by Chris on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 3:09 pm under Vivendi, Games, Game Platforms, Game Companies

50-cent.jpgI considered all sorts of 52 cent jokes, but they all sucked.

Unfortunately, the rumor has proven to be true as MTV News (where else?) has revealed the first details on the newest game to bear 50’s name. Blood on the Sand, as it’s called, won’t be a direct sequel to the horrendous Bulletproof and isn’t being developed by the same studio.

“Once we get the game out there … I think people will realize right away where our focus for the sequel is,” Vivendi Games producer Aaron Blean told MTV News. “We’ve emphasized the gameplay quality [more] than anything this time around. We can’t wait to show the game around.”

Word is mum on just what the “Blood on the Sand” title refers to or what the game is really about. What we do know is that 50 himself played a big part in developing the story – so you know it’ll be good.

The game is being built on Unreal Engine 3 and will feature a co-op style experience (which MTV refers to as being Gears of War-esque, although Army of Two sounds more accurate) where one player will control 50 Cent, and either the computer or a friend online will take control of the second character.

If you’re actually interested in the rest of the details, I both simultaneously pity you and direct you to MTV.com.

Possible 50 Cent Sequel in the Works

Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 at 10:22 am under Gamer Life, Game Consoles, Games, Game Companies

50-cent

Supposedly rapper, thug, gangsta, Eminem bff, ex-con, entrepreneur, Kanye West hatin’ 50 Cent is set to star in his second videogame.According to EGM, the follow-up to 50 Cent: Bulletproof, tentatively titled 50 Cent II is a third-person shooter that puts 50 and his “G-Unit” homies in the middle east caught between warring factions after being stiffed for their payment for a concert performance. It is currently in development by Swordfish Studios and will be published by Sierra.

Apparently the original game sold enough units to warrant an sequel, which while shocking does not surprise me in the least. Anyway, if you want more information on this, like consoles, expected release dates and what not, you can check out the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.

Lawyer Issues List of Violent Video Games for Parents to Avoid this Christmas

Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 at 11:06 am under Games Industry, Gamer Life, Portable, Game Related Laws, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Game Companies

kym worthyDetroit Prosecutor Kym Worthy has now officially become Gaming Today’s first ever “Idiot of the Day”. This lauded title has nothing to do with her wanting to educate parents on violence in video games, and it has nothing to do with her wanting to protect children from said violence depicted in certain games. Instead, the lovely crown and respected title of “idiot” has more to with her lack of knowledge and research than her wish to keep children safe from blood and bullets in their video games.

You see, dear readers, she has issued her Top Ten list of violent video games for parents to avoid purchasing this holiday season for their wonderful offspring. While this sounds like a fantastic idea - in theory - the list has me wondering what time frame the woman is living in. Check out her list:

1. Grand Theft Auto (last released on consoles 2004; PSP, 2006)
2. Manhunt (2004, what about 2007’s Manhunt 2?)
3. Scarface (2006)
4. 50 Cent Bulletproof (2005 - who the hell even bought this when it was new?)
5. 300 (Feb, 2007)
6. The Godfather (PS3 - March, 2007; other versions, 2006)
7. Killer-7 (2005)
8. Resident Evil 4 (Wii, PC 2007; other versions 2005)
9. God of War (2005; Maybe she meant 2007’s GoW2)
10. Hitman Blood Money (2006)

According to the Detroit News, this is Worthy’s third annual list of games to avoid as the lawyer has stated in the past that she feels that simulated violence leads to a high crime rate. Sure it does (note sarcasm), and living in the second most dangerous city in America has absolutely nothing to do with it does it Kym? While I can applaud her efforts to educate parents on the content of certain games, she should realize that not only are these mature titles, they are old; she should have done a little more research or at the very least fired her paralegal. It honestly looks like she just went to the Toys R Us website and copied their list of PS2 “M” rated titles. With that being said, I am sure we can all come up with games that are much more violent than what is on her list, let alone ones that are more current. BioShock anyone?
