Here’s yet another reason to be a fan of PSN – significant free updates for older games. Super Stardust is basically PSN’s Geometry Wars, and it’s nice to see the updates that Europe had gotten previously come to North America. The update was released today.

You can now create custom soundtracks – a huge item on the wishlist as far as a sequel was concerned – and the scoreboard has gotten prettied up and contains more details than before. If you boot the game up, you’ll also see some things labeled as “coming soon” – expansion packs of some sort are on the way for the game, although they’re likely to cost money.

If you’re curious about the game, there’s now a demo available up on the PlayStation Store as part of today’s PlayStation Store update. The full game will run you $9.99. It’s definitely one of the best games currently available on PSN, so definitely give it a look.
