Here’s a little blurb for all of the Mario fans out there – Nintendo has revealed the first week unit numbers for Super Mario Galaxy, and the Wii exclusive has sold over 500,000 units in the US.
“Super Mario Galaxy had the strongest one-week debut of any Wii game to date and has also become the best-selling Mario title ever in its first week, with US sales of more than 500,000, based on internal sales figures,” commented George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing.
Released in Europe last week, the game hit the UK all-formats charts at number five on its first day and with the holidays coming, Super Mario Galaxy could be the big seasonal hit that everyone is looking for in both the UK and US. This proves that once again the Mario franchise is a favorite of gamers from all walks of life. Congrats Mario, what are ya gonna do with all that money?
