HeraldNet out of Evert Washington announced that Reggie Meisler, 19, has won a full ride scholarship worth more than $60,000 for his video game Final Revelation. Meisler, a Sultan Washington teen ,will be attending DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond.

“It would have been impossible for me to go otherwise without taking out huge loans … and spending 40 years of my life paying them off,” Meisler said. “It’s a really nice relief.”

Meisler enjoys playing video games, especially classic adventures such as Maniac Mansion and King’s Quest. He was inspired to pursue game development as a career after taking a video game programming and animation course at Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe. The two year course, offered in partnership with DigiPen, was a prerequisite to applying for the scholarship.

Final Revelation is an old style adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic underground society.  Daniel, the main character searches for the truth behind the world’s apocalyptic ruin. Meisler spent two months and countless hours of planning and programming to craft the game, even quitting his job to meet the application deadline.

After he completes his bachelor’s of science degree in real-time interactive simulation, Meisler hopes to work for a big name in game development such as Valve. Sounds like he’s off to a good start.
