street fighter IV

Nothing like a true sequel to one of the most popular fighting games created to get the internet all abuzz. Now, comes official word from Capcom that the first new entry in eight years since Street Fighter III Third Strike is currently in development. Included in the game will be returning favorites Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Dhalsim with more characters to be announced along with fully rendered stylized 3D camera flourishes. While the news of 3D graphics being added to the game is indeed a new addition to the series, the game itself will still be played in the classic 2D style. The traditional six-button controls for the game will return, with a host of new special moves and features integrated into the input system along with new environments.

While few details have been released on Street Fighter IV in the past, along with the teaser trailer back in October, we have no idea which platforms it will be available on. However, we can assume based on Capcom’s formatting that PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase the game for whatever system they own. No word yet on whether Wii owners will have the opportunity to play the game on their systems, but we will definitely keep you posted.

The official website, StreetFighterWorld is now open for business, although information on it is just as scarce – so if you visit it just be prepared for even less information that what we have provided for you here.
