Stop Asking for a Wii Price Cut Already, Says Iwata

If you’re holding your breath for a Wii price cut, you’re probably going to be very worried when you hear this. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has laid the smack down, vehemently stating that Nintendo is not considering cutting the price of the system. So start breathing, cause it just ain’t happening.
“We’re still focusing on how to meet booming demand,” Iwata said today in comments reported by the Associated Press. “We’re absolutely not considering a price cut,” he added. “Stop nagging!” he didn’t.
Okay, so maybe Eurogamer made up the nagging line, but that’s what we call reading between the lines. With the Wii selling out as soon as units hit store shelves, there really is no reason for Nintendo to drop the price. At $250, it remains the cheapest of the three next-gen consoles (although the 360 is slowly approaching), and – deliberate or not – Nintendo can’t even keep up with supply. Why a price drop would cross their minds is beyond me.
While he might upset those of you waiting for a price cut, you can’t deny that his Mii is just adorable.
It’s the only system that doesn’t need a price cut. If $250 is too much to slap down for it, then you should probably be looking into other options. Look at the PSP pack, that’s $200!
