This needs to be done, even though it might not stop piracy 100% of course, it will sure slow it down to a crawl, as the avg person who can easily crack a game with a patch will not want to get into hardware mods and such. The PC is becoming less and less attractive to game Dev's because they know that they are guarantied to loose money.

umm.. I may not have this right or not but, isn't this illegal? It might not be, but for some reason I just think that this isn't going to be legal in some way shape or form. I don't think I have all the facts but don't they have to get your consent or something for a thing like this? witch they will most likely do something like a contract when you buy the product with this installed. Wait a thought just came to me, wouldn't games have to support this? that wouldn't be much of a problem for them just change some stuff around but couldn't that also detract alot of PC gamers who(like me) are in a situation with no money for buying games or having to get a new motherboard just to play the lastest game out because it will only work with a mobo that has TPM installed? so IMO this is a BAD idea

First, I'm not sure that every motherboard manufacturer out there will absolutely consent to installing the "TPM," given that anyone who doesn't will attract a huge market of people that will buy the more convenient piece of hardware.

Second, they assume that pirates will suddenly start buying all of the games that they download. That simply isn't true. Video games in general are too expensive of a hobby for legit, hardcore individuals who like to try a bit of every game in order to find what they like. For example, I generally wait until someone I know has bought a game so that I can try it before I buy it, and even then I have to really enjoy the game. Specifically, I borrowed my friend's computer to try Sins of a Solar Empire and Orange Box. I liked Sins, but not Orange Box. If I had bought them, I'd never heard of Sins at that time, but I had heard of Orange Box so I probably would have bought that and never had the chance to try Sins. What's worse, I would've been unhappy with the purchase, because Orange Box is okay, but Episode 2 and Portals do not off set the $60 cost of TF2.

Third, the thing killing PC gaming is neither game cost nor piracy. It is the fact that in order to stay up-to-date in the PC gaming world you have to be constantly moving and upgrading. If some part of your computer is too old in comparison to the new parts, then your experience will still be diminished. Furthermore, sometimes particular components, despite being recent and powerful, simply do not work with some programs. The hassle and cost of *upgrading* is whats killing PC gaming, because on a console you buy your hardware once, you don't have to deal with or purchase any upgrades. If you do they are simple to select and acquire, involving no installation of inevitably non-compatible drivers. For the average person, this convenience is well worth the initial cost and the limitation on extended usage.

Are you insane or just stupid....How could anyone say that with a strait face? oh wait nvm you must be jokeing...but if your not let me remind you that the customization of PCs, anywhere from external case mods to internal parts selection...and even customization and tweakability of a Microsoft OS is UNLIMITED
COMPLETELY UNLIMITED, there is almost nothing you can do with consols in that respect...oh wait, let me put a gears of war plate on my xbox and a COD4 sticker on my ps3.....NOW THATS IMPRESSIVE!!!!! omg ur stupid

lowering prices? Pc games are some of the cheapest games on the market. Cheaper then all current console games that run at 59.99 and up

I would like to see the prices go down though, to save my hard earned money cash soo the oil companies can take it

Simply put, PC gaming *IS NOT* dying due to piracy, but simply due to disinterest by developers. Piracy may or may not be a factor, but consoles are just slightly more impressive.

Some hacker, perhaps not yet born, will make Nolan eat his words. We will call him "The One" (LOL). Seriously though, I agree w/ Aristotle, nothing is "uncrackable" for long. Never say never when it comes to the world of piracy... big mistake.

"which is uncrackable by people on the internet"

Everything can be cracked one way or another. Impossible doesn't exist with data and hardware. And I highly doubt it uses CIA class algorithms.

As long as it doesn't have any effects like bioshock and what was gonna happen to mass effect among other games and apps. This better not interfer with the regular use of normal applications and games.

This is GREAT news, finally a lot of PC games, will be getting the sales they deserve...

Games like Crysis failed to sell too well, due to acts of extreme piracy...

Go Pirate Hunters!

^^Did is start with "E" and end with "n"? Yeah, I feel your pain....Anyway, I'm not so optimistic about it, anything can and will be cracked with enough effort and this TPM is no exception.
