Statement on Xbox Live Issues Expected Soon

Xbox Live better has seen better weeks when looking back at the past two weeks or so. Lag, account recovery issues, the inability to join games or send messages and certain dashboard blades outright not loading are just some of the problems that have arisen recently, most likely due to the influx of new members and subsequent traffic from the holidays.
Major Nelson has been issuing frequent status reports through Twitter, although much of it was simply reassuring Xbox Live members that Microsoft was at work on the issue. The updates didn’t provide any particulars, such as what was causing the problem or how close things were back to being normal. (The closest we got to the latter were notices that things were “better.”)
Many Xbox Live Gold members – you know, the ones that pay $50 a year to play online – have felt cheated, and many have demanded compensation for the time lost. Whether or not you agree is another matter, but there have been rumors recently that Microsoft intended to somehow make up for the downtime (although Live was never actually “down”), perhaps with Microsoft Points or free Xbox Live time.
Eurogamer is reporting that Microsoft has said an official word on the matter is on its way, and may arrive as soon as today. I think the only certainty, though, is that Major Nelson is going to get berated with comments. Lots and lots of negative comments.

i think DRM issues are far more important than anything else. Fix that first. Thx
urgh. I game on Live on a regular basis (4 times a week minimum) with a bunch of other people, and this situation has been hugely frustrating to us. Live could at least issue some sort of statement to users via e-mail, or over Live itself.
Just a human update – still not able to create a new account or recover an old account..gee thanks XBOX! I emailed Major Nelson, though I don’t expect a response..But, if you care to know, his email address is major@xbox.com
Jeff, I know a few other people who have been unable to recover their gamertag. Best advice I can give you is just keep trying.
After a week and a half i was finally able to recover my 15mb profile today. It took something like an hour and now im not able to play any arcade games cause of stupid DRM issue.
a partial refund for gamers who couldn’t get on would be a start. I really want to hear less talk and more action from MS.
I am tracking each day(every 10 minutes) the status of xbox live, and creating
statisical images, this shows the biig picture on how “live” xbox-live actually is

Also these statistics are available for the public as-well

Has anyone had an issue trying to recover a profile when it says “this live ID is not associated with your gamertag.”???? when im 100% sure that it is.(an xbox support guy confirmed that it was in fact my live ID tagged to my gamertag)
