Star Trek Online Developer Drops Out

startrekenterprise1-1.jpgP2 Entertainment has apparently dropped out of developing the upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online. It seems they’ve decided to shift the focus of their studio more towards the casual games market, while continuing to license and work on their MMO Perpetual Platform. Luckily, the game itself has not been put on the “canceled” list and has instead been moved to another developer, who now has full use of the license and game content. Unfortunately, P2 also took the code for the game with them, meaning the new undisclosed developer has to start programming practically from scratch. Looks like Trek fans are going to have to wait quite a bit longer for their beloved franchise to get the full MMO treatment.

Do we know who this new developer is?

Perpetual Has lost all credit to me as any sort of Dev Team, This is the Second MMO they have failed on and tossed out the window… the first was Gods and Hero's. They bailed on that on in much the same way.

Glad they aren't producing it. I didn't want a company so bent on failure. Lets hope the next company understands the Trek universe.

Not surprising, they did this once before.

But i still stick to my guns and doubt very much if STO is going to even see the light of day.
