spore

Counting down the minutes to the Spore launch next week? Now you can get one step closer by pre-loading the game direct from EA. Starting today, gamers who pre-order the PC version of Spore from the EA Store can pre-load the game now and be among the first to start playing on the day of release.

Pre-loading Spore is available only for PC and the Spore Galactic Edition will be available as a boxed product-exclusive at retailers.

Once pre-ordered, you will see Spore in your EA Download Manager. You will then be able to download 99 percent of the game to your computer with the remaining part of the game to be downloaded upon the date of the game’s release. It will only take 30-60 minutes for the install to complete before you can begin conquering galaxies in Spore before anyone else – you will be charged for the game on the 28th of August and your statements will reflect this.

Spore ships on September 5 in Europe and Asia and on September 7 in North America. In addition to the PC version, Spore will be available on the Mac, Nintendo DS and mobile phones.

Yay! Though no one apparently mentions that Scandinavian and Australian stores have the releasedate as September 4.

  2. Buddy "The Truth" Love says:

    @Faggio

Because, let’s face it, who gives a shit? I don’t even know what Scandinavia is. Fucking foreigners need to follow the US’s lead on this. Actually, no, don’t. Spore is OURS you eurotrash.

  3. Fox Makenshi says:

Wow buddy, way to show an astounding amount of intolerance in one statement. Good job on making America look like a bunch of idiots, no really great job.

On-topic:This is a pretty cool idea, though I already pre-ordered this from GameStop so oh well. The different release date may just be a typo.

    Love,
    Fox Makenshi

  4. Mario says:

Buddy “The Truth” Love, I see that you’re very familliar to the world map >.>

  5. Serio says:

He’s just trying to boost his own self-esteem. I can’t take offense when American’s insult me, since Europe created the US. I like the idea that EA lets people “preload” it. Like Valve does with Steam.

  6. Vengeance09 says:

Serio, on behalf of non-retarded Americans, I apologize for my countryman’s stupidity. We’re not all that bad.

As for this, it sounds like a pretty good idea. I’m still likely to wait, given I’m not one of the rabid-foaming-at-the-mouth must have Spore customers, and I like the feel of an actual game box, but I’ll credit EA for this.

  7. Serio says:

Don’t worry, i know a few Americans. Only a handfull actually feel the same way as Buddy. I was planning on ordering Spore online from a shop, but since the mail has decided to take a U turn back down into the pit of failure, i think i’m going to preload it Sepatember 2nd.

  8. Kevin says:

Downloading it now, thanks for the heads up.

  9. Ryan says:

Just cant wait for spore!

I love how EA have a dedicated UK site.

I love even more how Spore costs a full £20 MORE THAN THE US VERSION ON SAID SITE.

    Lets do the math.

EA: £45 + the ‘privilege’ of being able to redownload my game for the next two years (£5) = £50!!!

My local game retailer (GAME): £30 (Plus a free copy of Spore Creature Creator if you preorder)

Hmm. I wonder where I will go buy my copy of Spore from, he said, his voice dripping with malevolent sarcasm.

When I want to get raped economically, I know where I’ll go shop!

    Thanks EA!

Also, for any Americans who happen to be reading this and wondering aloud ‘Oh, another Brit going on about how expensive games are in England,’ or something to that effect, ponder this.

Spore, when purchased from EA’s UK store, is equivalent to $90.

Let me stress that by repeating it, except this time in capitals.

    NINETY FUCKING DOLLARS

    FOR A VIDEOGAME

    DOWNLOADED ONLINE

    OMFG

    In short -

Fuck you, EA. I go to Valve, where even though I have to ask my parents for their credit card, I can still get Company of Heroes for only £10.

  11. James says:

    BrainSpecialist-

You are absolutely cocrrect in what you say. Hell, I love downloading from Steam. I get a game fast, and have the ability to redownload anytime I want, on any pc as long as I’m only logged in on one machine.

Having said all that I WAS considering downloading from EA *until* I read that you can onlt re-download for 6 months! 6 months?! To extend this to 2 years you have to pay more! Wait a minute, they are providing me with server bandwidth alone, nothing physical, yet I can have a copy from Amazon for half the price. There is a phrase that Cartman from SouthPark uses all the time, and I’d like to say it to EA.

I’m looking at this site- http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/4/6200/product/Buy-SPORE-UK-Download

Cheaper than EA, but I’m not sure how long the item can be downloaded for. I may just wait and go with Amazon
