The reason why the trend won’t continue is because GTA was the mainstream game that made the PS2, it releasing earlier time after time over the xbox was the only reason I owned one. Not so anymore. Sure MGS4 and games like that are gonna be great, but they aren’t the “Halo” of the PS3, that was supposed to be the GTA series. I own both, PS3 is better in terms of quality and longevity. Do I see it winning this war? Nope. By the time PS3 is about to pass 360 on numbers (and please be realistic, its not happening in 2009 lol, PS3 is gonna rise 127% each month from now lol) The next next generation will be coming out.

Hmmm… if I got it right, the fact that there’s a higher attach-ratio of GTA within PS3 owners, wouldn’t mean that there are less resons to have a PS3. I mean, when you have to wait for a game to sell 1/3 of your consoles you should re-consider how appealing is your product.

Also, if we talk about growth in the past year, we’re not talkin apples-to-apples. 1% of growth in the Xbox is greater than 1% growth of PS3. And of course, there’s the thing that since most people wouldn’t have multiple Xbox’s, well…. there’s less people to sell consoles to.

It’s yet to see if Sony would parry some hits from Nintendo and Microsoft, because loosing previously exclusive franchises and Microsoft even scoring exclusive content on its XBox’s versions really must hurt.

I didn’t say it didnt sell badly last year. It DID sell badly last year but it is very very significant that its sales have risen dramatically since last year while the 360’s have stayed pretty much the same.

This was April last year

360 – 174,000
PS3 – 82,000

compared to this year

360 – 188,000 + 8%
PS3 – 187,100 + 128%

According to you that looks better for Microsoft but it clearly looks a damn sight better for Sony because sales of the 360 are now stagnant year to year while the PS3’s sales are rising considerably. If the trend continues (and why wouldn’t it?) the PS3 will outsell the 360 in April 2009 by over 2:1.

Which means the xbox 360 sold well last april and this april while the ps3 didnt sell well last april. Congratulations, you are a victim to the spin zone. All you need to look at is the fact that xbox 360 sold more consoles and more copies.

It is when you compare it to the 360 which only saw an 8% rise compared to April 2007.
