This new trailer just came out from Sony advertising the PS3. Whatever your opinion on their system, Sony can still pull off some creative commercials. At a little over four minutes, this video shows pretty much every important detail of the PS3, all with a hand that can draw real objects out of thin air. Remember that kids’ book “The Purple Crayon?” If they ever turned it into a CG movie, it would probably look a lot like this.

just when they hit it right with those cool commercials where the ps3 turns into an octopus they decide to go back to a crappy commercial that really has nothing to do with the system
hell i thought the white room trailers were better
It really makes me laugh that after 13 years and over 230m home consoles sold every Playstation ad Sony makes is attacked for being rubbish. Has it not occurred to these people that if the ‘weird’ ads didn’t work Sony wouldn’t be using them? Or perhaps these armchair ad execs think Sony would have sold even more PS1’s and PS2’s if they had used a different strategy?
Getting an ad to get attention and stick in someones head is the most important thing and thats what Sony’s ads do.
Here is the best one imo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Bqq38WZctA
and this one was good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpBPi4CjDMQ
@#1 Where’s all the Wii or 360 holiday ads?
try lame, seriously all the ads stink.
Wow, This is real 21st century technology. I didn’t know that PS3 could do all of this. I’m going straight to buy my PS3.
How come my Xbox360 doesn’t do all of this? I’m gonna smash my Xbox and buy PS3.
Why are all these Sony ads so abstract? They try to fit everything the PS3 does in to these ads by using flashy graphics and stylish presentation but the message becomes confused. They need to simplify and just tell the consumer what the machine does in plain terms.
For proof of how dumb some people are to how advertising works see the posts above me ^^
I rather enjoyed it. Even though I don’t plan on buying a PS3 anytime soon (mainly lack of titles and price, but once it grows like the PS2, I will), but this commercial was really quite enjoyable. Music was nice, and the whole sort of ‘hand-drawn’ bit was pretty cool to watch too.
I seriously doubt that it is intended to be a commercial as the run-time is way too long. Unless they cut it up into discrete segments and air those segments standalone.
Sony always has the best adverts
Norbit you are a fool.
Does anyone know the sang that is playing in the ad?
…song….
