Sony Pushed 9 Million PS3s in Fiscal 2008

Sony’s financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008 have revealed that Sony sold 9.24 million PlayStation 3 systems worldwide, up from 5.63 million in the previous fiscal year. The PlayStation Portable also had a solid year, selling 13.9 million units, which is 4.36 million more than last year.
The PlayStation 2 was just barely surpassed by the PSP though; the seven year old system managed to sell an amazing 13.73 million consoles. That’s down 980,000 from the previous year, but it doesn’t detract from how incredible it is that the system is selling better than the PS3 despite its age.
Additionally, the PlayStation 2’s install base has reached 154 million units, according to GI.biz.
The ten year plan seems to be in full effect with the PlayStation 2, but we’ll have to see just how much longer this momentum can continue to carry it.

I don’t love or hate any console, they all have their pros and cons. I just hate stupid people (aka fanboys). As for the WII, it’s just not for me but to those who like it, more power to you. My NES is in working condition and I still break it out every now and then. Baseball Stars rocks

I notice they expect the PS3 to decrease in sales by about 4 million, but the PS3 is only going to increase in sales by about half a million. Where are those other 3 and 1/2 million console sales going? Odd are good those people will by a 360 or Wii and that’s not good for sony.

i agree with fanboys are a joke. I own all consoles now and each are great in their own way, hoever id have to say most games id choose Xbox 360, Wii is collecting dust, and PS3 is a blu-ray player now. i do hope there is some good games “I” want on PS3. as a gaming system with the online it sucks. Xbox live way better, however i do like the open features of the PS3 and will soon be installing linux on that so it can play some emulators.
as for Norbits Bro, get over it, i wish u would try Xbox live, you will see the online difference, its true, u have a PS3 i beleive u stated. now get a Gaming system with awesome online features, u will see the difference. but fanboys are usualy blind.

yes i only state the facts for my systems, my Wii i havent played in a long time, its true, My PS3 i dont use online often cuz i use the 360 which i got most my games for, i only have one PS3 game, Warhawk, which i do like, but for features of online features vs Live the PS3 does suck in that department. Not the game play or games, im talking about unified friends list, ability to see what friends are playing. the regular Xbox live stuff. thats all i mean. Game play is the same for both PSN and Live, i have never had connection issues or Lag difference. And in time Sony will have all this im sure. they are damn slow with it.
and For your comment Used Cisco i hope u dont refer to me as a fanboy, because i am sure not, i like all systems and dislike them all for different reasons. i am not like Norbits Bro. or any other fanboys, i just state my situation. its different for all ofcourse. So no worries. Im a gamer and was ever since the atari days to now. maby i am blind sometimes but we all are in some areas. but no fanboy. i hate all console companies.
