I don’t currently own a PS3. I do have an aging PS2 and a lot of games to play on it.

I’d definitely think very VERY hard about buying a PS3 with the Emotion Engine Chip or equivalent that will allow me to play my PS2 games on it.

Ok I commented before I read after the cut but we are still getting screwed because if I want to play any PS2 games I’ll hve to purchase them again from the Playstation Store….THAT BLOWS!!!! Go Marlins!!!!

What does that mean for those of us that have one of the PS3’s that doesn’t have backwards compatibility with the PS2? I guess we are screwed unless we buy another PS3…Thanks Sony. Go Marlns!!!!

SO basically, the new PS3 is going to better and cheaper, where the older ps3s are less advanced and still at the 400 dollar mark. I dont get it. Unless they make the old PS3 even cheaper than the newer one, all the old PS3 wont sell.

Backwards compatibility would indeed be a good thing for the PS3. Them removing it in the latest version is one reason I think you’ve seen that system not do as well as the others.

The re-introduction of PS2 compatibility, the ability to obtain PS2 games digitally, and a price cut would make the PS3 hard too pass up indeed.
