Sony, GGL, and GameStop Launch Resistance: Fall of Man Tournament

Sony, GGL, and GameStop have announced the formation of a Resistance: Fall of Man tournament. In less than subtle terms, they’ve blared forth the challenge:

“Attention all Humans and Chimera! Whether you prefer to team up or fight on your own, the Resistance: Fall of Man Tournament has a bracket for you. Sony Computer Entertainment America, GameStop and GGL present a 1v1 and 3v3 Resistance: Fall of Man Tournament! And for the 26 of you who make it to the end, you will be flown out to New York City with a chance to compete in nationally televised finals!”

The matches will be single elimination brackets, and will be played over the PlayStation Network. The top 6 teams and top 8 individuals will be flown to New York City for the semifinals, which will be held at a GameStop retail location. The finals will be played at GamePlay HD studios, and featured on national TV.

Registration begins today, and runs through 11:59 pm EST on July 4th. You’ll only be allowed to compete in one tournament, so you should decide up front if you’re better as part of a team or as a lone wolf. You can check out the registration page and the rules of the tournament here.

Prizes look awesome, with first place in team competition receiving $3,000 in prizes per team member, and the 1v1 winner receiving $3,500 in prizes.

• Fourth Prize (3 players) $100 GameStop gift card per player
