Sony Continuous Play Protecting British Sony Consoles

With all the news about failing XBox 360’s, and the extended warranty costs associated with them, one question I have is this: What about PlayStations? Well, at least in the UK, PlayStation owners can take advantage of Sony’s Continuous Play program.
It’s actually fairly simple. Console owners pay a flat monthly fee. A PSP or PlayStation 2 owner will pay £2.49 a month (£29.88 a year), and PS3 owners pay £4.99 a month (£59.88 a year). What does that get you? It means that if your console is torn up for any reason (even if you give it the old Pele kick into the wall), Sony will stop by your house, pick up the console, and have a replacement to you within two working days. There’s no limit on how many replacements you can get, and there’s not additional charges beyond the monthly fee.
Yeah, it’s a little steep, but consider the cash you’ve got invested in the PS3, and it’s not THAT bad. besides, two days downtime is a lot better than the weeks of downtime that 360 owners are reporting.

Will they include a limit in the fine print when you reach, oh I don’t know, say, you’re 8th one ?
if microsoft do something like this when launch their crappy console, they would be in bankrupcy already
Maybe I wasn’t clear. This was not a fanboy comment, but pure sarcasm referring to an earlier article on this site about someone who is on their 8th XBox360 console. Once the PS3 hits its stride in a year or so, you will certainly hear of consoles failing, as there will be more on the market, and they will be getting more usage. And there will be the inevitible idiots that ‘forgot their PS3 in their pocket’ when their mom did the laundry, and now they don’t understand why their ’sub-par expensive console isn’t working anymore’. This is also sarcasm, by the way. In my previous comment, I was just stating that there will always be idiots, and their will also be a few lemons on an assembly line. ANY assembly line. So with a failsafe insurance program, you will also have people attempting to profit from this. And you can be sure that if you are on you’re 8th console, the company will eventually revoke your coverage.
i get it somewhat
