Rather than the standard 60GB PS3 that has been launched elsewhere in the world, Sony seems to have decided to go with an 80GB version of the system for its South Korean launch. Apparently a listing was found on Sony’s Korean site that showed only an 80GB version slated for release. Most likely this will be done because of Korea’s high number of broadband users. The larger hard drive could be used for more downloadable content, which would of course mean more profits for Sony. Go, capitalism, go!

The 80GB PS3 will be released in Korea on June 16 for about $557 USD. Hey, waitaminute. How come they get the better system for less money? If I were North America, I’d feel cheated about now.
