homer doh Sony and Microsoft Both Make Fortune’s “Dumbest Business Moments” ListIt’s probably not a goal that either company was aiming to achieve, but Fortune has named both Microsoft and Sony to their annual list of the “101 Dumbest Moments in Business.” Sony actually trumped Microsoft by making the list twice.

Sony’s first move to make the list was the embarrassing promotion of God of War II earlier this year, when a decapitated goat was put on display at a press event. Not so smooth.

Move number two is more aimed at Insomniac, but issues arose over the issue this year – the usage of the Manchester Cathedral as one of the settings in Resistance: Fall of Man. The Church of England criticized the company and threatened to sue.

Microsoft made the list for a boneheaded move by its PR firm, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, which wrote a 13-page dossier about a Wired editor – intended for Microsoft execs – and accidently sent it to the writer himself.
