gtaiv1 Somewhat Disappointing Rumor: GTA IV DLC Will Last 15 Hours

The latest rumor concerning GTA IV’s upcoming DLC says that the first batch of new content will add 15 hours of extra gameplay to the hit title. The news apparently stems from web comic, RPG-TV, though the author has since removed this information. This is kind of disappointing, considering initial rumors on the DLC indicated they would be adding whole new cities comparable to San Andreas. Now it sounds more like they’re just adding some extra missions. Hopefully we’ll actually hear some official news on the additional content soon.

OH NO! ONLY 15 HOURS OF EXTRA GAMEPLAY!!!

Shut up. 15 hours of extra gameplay is better than nothing. Did you really expect them to build an entire new city? If so, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment.

And seeing that 15 hours is basically 1/2 of a new storyline…I’m pretty excited. I thought it’d be 7-8 at most.

  2. I also think that 15 hours isn’t a big deal. There was an achievement in the game if you finished it in under 30 hours… I took something like 46…, which is 50% more… so if its projected at 15 hours, I say that I have 22.5 hours of DLC coming to me ;)

I’d say 15 hours is pretty damn long. It’s as long as some games! Call of Duty 4 was 10 hours long, Half Life 2 was 20 hours long, It’s “expansions” each was around 7-8 hours long. Now, let us take a look; San Andreas is 3 islands. First island is a good 10-15 hours, so that would be the first to be added? Second is around 15-20, a second DLC? I guess you catch my point.

From someone who thought GTA4’s only failing was lack of content, it certainly sounds like further disappointment. If this particular DLC was packed into GTA4 on launch, then I would have felt my $60 was justified. I can’t help but feel Rockstar are milking this iteration of the franchise for all it’s worth.

  5. Serio says:

If you thought GTA IV was lacking content, then Oblivion must have felt more empty than a cardboard box.

  6. Steve says:

Oblivion at least gave me the feeling of accomplishment when completing a rather lengthy sidequest. Collecting pigeons, finding jumps, and all that jazz was empty filler in GTA4. And don’t get me started on how thin the main story in GTA4 was in comparison to Oblivion (e.g. books).

Anyway, i can’t believe Microsoft shelled that vast amount of money for this exclusive DLC. Believe me, $50 million bucks for 15 hours of extra gameplay (shallow one i might add) is overkill.

Anyway, i’m glad i sold my copy. I still believe that San Andreas was the best GTA, and i have played each and every GTA that has come out the moment it came out.

apparently we’re talking about the *first* DLC according the news.

Imagine another Update adding another 15 hours. Thats my guess. And 30 hours would be not that bad.

On the other hand, Rockstar said, GTA IV would take 100 hours for 100% .. and like 60 hours for the main Story. I’m myself are at 90% at 65 hours + something.
So I doubt it will actually take 15 hours for the average GTA player.

I dont expect that much. Setting up a whole new City for an Update would be ridiculous. Maybe another district to Liberty City. But I dont even expect that to happen. Probably a bunch of new stores for clothing, a few new cars and mainly more accessable buildings. There are a bunch of cool massive buildings worth to add some “content” in and around them.

Another thing concerning your high hopes for a new City: nonsense. You still have to be able to walk around in Liberty City … The “jetting” solution from SA (flying to Las Vegas) sucked big time. A brand new City just like Liberty City with the same ammount opportunities.. – be honest – you didnt really expect this to happen, did you? There WILL be a whole new City — but in a new game, coming sometime before we die.

    Damn I’m freaking bored haha

I wouldn’t mind if they only added a few new stores. I’d pay full price for 40 new sets of clothing. They could add a minor island off the coast of Liberty City that contained maybe a few gangs or a mafia. It could be accessible by Helicopter or Boat. Personally, i think it’d be awesome if they re-added the mansion from GTA 3.
