McGill University researchers have released a study in which video games have been shown to reduce the production of the stress-related hormone cortisol.
Researchers conducted studies on students playing a video game called Matrix (no, Neo has nothing to do with it). They proved that not only did the students report lower stress levels in a high-pressure context, but they exhibited an average 17-percent reduction in cortisol production.
“There are many possible applications for this kind of game,” said Prof. Baldwin, “from helping people cope with the social anxiety of public speaking or meeting new people, to helping athletes concentrate more on their game rather than worrying about performing poorly.”
Personally I could have told them about the correlation between video games and stress relief. I’ve always found fragging demon hordes relaxes me.

Just like He||gate: London. Except during spooky music. I almost bled from high blood pressure then.
