Shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal on the Set of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Seen walking about on the set of his new film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Jake Gyllenhaal channels our favorite prince by walking around shirtless and sporting the iconic “prince pants” and rock star hair seen in the games.

Being filmed in Morocco, North Africa, the 27-year-old actor, will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton), to prevent an evil nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time and taking over the world.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time also stars Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) as Sheik Amar, who becomes a mentor to the prince while Sir Ben Kingsley (Sexy Beast, The Gandhi) will play the villain.

The film is to be released by Walt Disney Pictures, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who has stated that he would like to see the film turn into a large franchise like the films Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure.

Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Donnie Brasco) is the director and while the film was originally slated for a June 19, 2009 release, it has been postponed to May 28, 2010.
