shadowrun Shadowrun’s Future, Official Forums Closing

A post on the official Shadowrun forums has stated that they will be shutting down in the next two weeks, which I think we can all agree is the proverbial stake through the heart of Shadowrun as we know it. On the bright side, there is good news to be had. The post states that Shadowrun.com will be eventually closed down, and the name transitioned “to the folks working on the next generation of Shadowrun products.” Cue Smith & Tinker.

Following the closing of FASA Studios (Shadowrun’s developer), the rights to Shadowrun and some of the other FASA properties were transferred to Smith & Tinker, whose CEO – Jordan Weisman – is the same man that founded FASA.

So while it may take some time, Shadowrun fans can at least take some solace in knowing that Shadowrun as a series hasn’t bitten the dust.

Honestly, Shadowrun was great fun for about a week. In my opinion, the achievements totally ruined the fun. After about a week, the game became flooded with achievement whores who could care less whether the team won the match or not as long as they got whatever achievement they were going after.

    Shadowrun has fans?!!

malmo – Probably not fans of the recent FPS, but the old school RPG, definitely.

Will – You’re right to an extent, but even without achievements, it wouldn’t have been that great a game.

  4. Congzilla says:

Shadowrun is and rpg. Making the video game an FPS was just begging for the project to be ignored by it’s core fans and doomed to failure.
