Sessler’s Soapbox: Lighten Up, People!

Ah, Adam. You’re back to your old ranting ways this week. It does my heart good to see it.

Honestly, Sessler makes an excellent point here. All too often in today’s gaming media, whether it’s the writers on a site or the community on a site, people seem to want to only talk about how bad things are. Sure, there are bad games out there. There always have been, and always will be. However, it’s extremely rare for a game to be so bad as to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Just because you don’t like anything that’s on the market doesn’t make you some kind of great critic. It simply means you’re most likely too picky, and have forgotten that the point of playing games is to have fun.

Thanks, G4!

I think Gamespot reviewed such games before, but like you mentioned, it is quite rare.

This particular game got a Gamespot score of 1.0, I think that is the lowest score ever that Gamespot gave to a game review.

I feel the same about the G4tv.com web site. So many people crap on it, but it has some damn good content there….I think they just need a serious redesign. It’s also obvious that the channel and web site are different in many ways, so yeah, I rag on the channel…especially since the death of the old Tech TV content….but the web site has some gems in there.

    or….

Maybe the market has been experiencing such an influx of terrible games for so long, that we are now being asked to lower our standards and give mediocre games the “good job” sticker ?
