Being a heavyset male, ive grown used to some comments from my friends over the years. Hell, its almost expected when i go over. And i can usualy dish it out as well as i can take it, but on xbox live, when some random 5 year old with a mouth that would put the most hardest trucker or sailor to shame, its just anoying and ruins a game!

This is why im almost exclusively play with party mode and not the main game!

Aside from a global reset of the gaming industry’s voice chat capability…this is only going to get worse.

However, let him show his true colors, and I bet he is as bitter at jerk gamers as he is at his jerk producers for pinning him a role he cannot escape. He is on G4 until he hits 40, then he’ll be retired.

I’d curse the world if I were in the same spot. But then again, half the kids on Xbox live are stupid faggot-niggers anyway.

Oh and I hope nobody here is going to put this into terms of parties because thats a bowl of shit you are smoking. Both sides are equally racist and both sides are equally progressive as far as video games go. I am a registered Democrat and Libertarian at heart, I have friends deep in both sides and they are both equally racist. If anything I am going to say that the left is more vulgar and racist, and feel entitled to do that since they ‘gave everybody else rights’ as a friend has explained it.

Also, as I’ve said, I will say this kind of bullshit to you in “RL” (as you so intelligently used some interwebz lingoz in your pathetic attempt at a respectable post). To this day, I have yet to see repercussions for anything I’ve said. What the fuck is some bitch going to do, hit me? Yell back at me? Cry as if someone gives a shit? I’d love for them to give me an excuse to swing back at them if they try anything at all physical.

Psychologists are all a bunch of worthless crackpots who, despite what their degree says, know absolutely dick about how people work. My hats off to you guys though, as you are the best conmen/scammers the world has ever seen.

So, number 1 (and the biggest reason). Online gaming grants everyone the oppurtunity that you dont get in real life. If your boss (or even a teacher at school) pisses you off, you don’t have a go and call him various names because there will be real-life connotations. In the online world there are no connotations in RL. Someone may call you names back but thats as harsh as it gets. You can do whatever and there is no-one to answer to. This is not such a biggy to adults with responsibility, but we have learnt how to control our feelings and we know for the most part when it is acceptable to swear and when it is not. Teens don’t, they are still very much in a hierarchical society at school and college and so relish the opportunity to let loose with no consequences. It is a form of excitement and amusement to them, and one that is readily available.

Number 2. The communities. In RL (especially in college and school) there are very complicated and intricate social hierarchies which are usually topped by the guy who is best at sports. In primitive society he is called the Alpha male. On Xbox live there is a hierarchy of sorts in the ranking system, which means the better you are, the closer you are to the Alpha male spot. Getting beaten by one of these people often results in primitive emotions surfacing that would usually take a back seat to submission in RL (cos if you take the piss out of the guy that just beat the crap out of you in RL, then he’ll likely do it again). Because these emotions are in a no consequence environment, well, let the insults roll baby! woo!

So to conclude, Number 1 is the biggest reason and the root of all the other reasons. I could have written several down but its too much effort! I have some tips for those that want to rise above the insults (note, due to the nature of these tips I recon you will get a 90% rate of more abuse, but you’ll be laughing ;D )

When someone insults you, ask them a question like, “why do you think thats funny?” or “What happened to you this morning that put you in such a bad mood?”

These break the insult cycle and force the insulter to think of an answer (probably not a very constructive one) but most importantly after answering he has submitted control of the conversation to YOU and you can then take it wherever the hell you want to go. Just remember that this may not work all the tim, due to reason 1, but be sure to give it a shot!
