I’ve always been a fan of Sessler’s Soapbox, since I find them to be very straight to the point, and there’s never any doubt about the X-Play host’s thoughts on a subject. This time around, it’s Halo 3 – or more specifically, all of the people out there that are doing anything and everything they can to bash the game. Sessler makes an excellent point in saying, essentially, Halo 3 is more than the sum of its parts. The graphics might not be the best, there might be bugs, it might not be the longest game, but it doesn’t matter – it’s a fun game, plain and simple.
As a self-professed Halo fanboy, I actually clapped after hearing Sessler’s parting words. (Hey, there’s no one around. …don’t patronize me!) So, whether or not you like Halo, give the above video and watch and see what you have to say then.
Oh, and if bleeped-out expletives offend you, you’d be well advised to skip the ending.
lol…i dont think he realizes that alot of folks who hate Halo….are really hating the game…
they hate Bungie for selling out to M$ and then that partnership ignores the PC market except to dole out a scrao now and again in the form of a piss-poor xbox port.
maybe now that Bungie has shed the shackles of M$ they might bring something worthy of the Halo name to the PC.
Halo may be good on xbox but dont even try it on PC. Its a average fps, multiplayer is medicore and the single player is nothing special. Also Halos level design etc etc isnt even that good….xbox or pc..
I was caught clapping at the ending by my wife. She doesn’t get Halo either. I do enjoy the multiplayer of Halo 3 to no end though, and am sure I’ll be playing it even longer with my online friends than we did with Halo 2.
X-play is a great example of what the general public views the hardcore gamer as. Back when TechTV ran the show it was a fun, informitave show about our hobby. Now days, its about as much fun as being lobotomized. On top of which, people like Adam standing as a representative of the gaming community does nothing but perpetuate the stereotype of the lame, geeky, out of touch gamer living in his parents basement.
I don’t think the problem is that Halo 3 is a bad game. Its not. The problem is that while good, its so much less than they made it out to be. Halo does not achieve the same greatness on 360 that the original did on the first xbox. Maybe its unfair to expect it to. But people who snapped out of the hype machine and realized that the game didn’t deliver for this gen whats its predecessors did for the last gen, are not necessarily haters. I think that after having played the game, we just decided to put the kool-aide down.
and the haters don’t hate it because its a bad game, cus its not. they hate it because of the hype (my guess at lesat). halo is like an STi yea its fun to drive but it sure as hell isn’t the best car out there or the fastest, so don’t hype it like ferarri is launching an econo car with 500bhp that gets 40mpg. not sure if that makes sense, it made more sense in my head
Did he actually say that Bungie getting an FPS to work so succesfully on a console was ‘revolutionary’?
Not a big Goldeneye fan then.
Yay for Sessler!

Since when do people care what sessler has to say about anything?
Halo 3 was the worst over hyped game ever in the history of gaming consoles. Good for a rental but not a purchase.

And I don’t think anyone has stated any better what the hater’s can do than what Adam had to say at the end.
Booorrrrriiinggg…
ya wanna see an actual interesting, funny review of Halo 3?
