Sega announced today that the exclusive Nintendo DS title, Sands of Destruction, will be heading to North America sometime during Fall 2009. While no concrete release date was forthcoming, the critically acclaimed Japanese title based upon the anime show World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokuni will give even more gamers the opportunity to experience this action-packed story.
Featuring a unique range of characters, artistic atmosphere and an RPG battle system, Sands of Destruction tells the tale of a race of powerful beast-men known as Ferals who currently rule over humans with prejudice and an iron fist. Enter a group of warriors called the World Annihilation Front who believe that the only option for ending the corruption of the Ferals is to end the world as they know it. Traveling across a world of sand, gamers will meet the crusading Morte Ashera as well as Kyrie Illunis, who unknowingly holds the key to global destruction while battling colossal enemy monsters and unraveling the mystery of the creation of the world.
Mixing traditional turn-based tactics with fighting game mechanics, Sands of Destruction also features the “Quip system” where characters utter battle commands that will enhance abilities and boost player attributes to give them various advantages during battle. As the story unfolds new battle commands will be discovered and gamers will be able to customize the different commands to each character.
