We live in a crazy gaming age with sex games, virtual crimes and basically total madness. For those of you who haven’t heard of Second Life, it’s basically “an online digital world imagined, created & owned by its residents”, according to the developers. Kevin Alderman, a entrepreneur and modder, has been selling mods for the game that make the sex aspect more realistic. He has recently filed lawsuits against another user of the game who stole his code and has been selling the mods.

The 46-year-old entrepreneur recognized four years ago that people would pay to equip their online selves which start out with the smooth anatomy of a Barbie or Ken doll with realistic genitalia and even more to add some sexy moves.

Alderman has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Tampa against “Volkov Catteno” for breaking the copy protection on the mods and selling unauthorized copies. Originally, Alderman confronted “Volkov”, whose only response was “What are you going to do? Sue me?” Apparently that’s exactly what will happen.  I am definitely interested to find out what happens in this case, considering Alderman is selling mods to a game that is copyrighted itself. The outcome of this case could have a huge impact on the mod communities in the future. The creators of the game encourage the selling of mods however, so I am not sure how much of a role the company will play in this. It seems that lawsuits spawned from virtual incidents will become more and more common in the future.

Will it show upclose anal sex? I love to see hardcore anal.

  2. Draken says:

Very sad that people getting their sexual needs through digital characters. Whatever happened to RPG, Arcade and platform games where leveling up or advancing to higher weapons was a achievement? Oh well, I guess wont be going on this ‘Second’ life thing.

  3. Vetam says:

lulz. Epic fail. Sueing someone over attachments. Bullshit. The fact that
the guy’s 40+ isn’t really helping, either. It’s just kinda creepy.

    To reply to Draken:

Second Life isn’t just about sex. It’s about creativity. There’s roleplay,
building (think 3d modelling), scripting (through LSL, a combination of C++
and Java), and many MANY other things. It’s sad that some people think it’s
just about sex. It’s not. I don’t think it ever will be. Think on this for
a moment. I have supplied my two cents; now I bid you adieu.

Vetam, you apparently forgot that SL is a form of income for many. The sex aspect and the age of the people involve are irrelevant. The mod was a product that was resold without permission is a directly infringement. You shouldn’t consider buying any software, music, movie, etc, burning it and reselling it to others. I wish Alderman success in the matter.

definitely do not think Second Life is all about porn and adult scenarios…that is just a segment of the game’s population taking part in that.

  6. Jetsetlemming says:

Second Life is incredibly boring, buggy, and ugly. The people attracted to SL are NOT exactly the artistic geniuses among us. It’s also constantly being reported on the high number of sexual, pedophiliac, furry, and other messed up sexual content is put up by SL users.
But personally? I just found it boring, uninteresting, and painful to look at, and didn’t last more than 20 minutes trying to find what made Second Life fun. :/

  7. Alex says:

    Interesting. Thanks for sharing:)

  8. MisoHoney says:
