We’ve been tracking the progress of the latest Warhawk patch for more than two months now, and it has finally gone live today. Servers went offline early this morning as the patch was rolled out, so next time you start the game you’ll be prompted with a download.
The Omega Dawn expansion Booster Pack will be available tomorrow as a part of the weekly PlayStation Store update for $7.99. We’ve detailed much of the information on the patch previously, and any lingering questions have been answered in an FAQ on PlayStation.Blog. You can read it here.
Cool detail: the dropship can pick up vehicles and bring them around, and any players in that vehicle will remain in it while it’s being transported.
Sony’s Dylan Jobe mentions in the FAQ that there is new content in the works for ground troops and, more importantly, that it’ll be free. He didn’t go into any further detail, but it sounds like Warhawk is going to see continued support from its developers.

Work on both the v1.2 patch and Operation: Omega Dawn booster pack for the excellent Warhawk have been completed and will be released on time next month. Final testing is being done now and the booster pack will cost $7.99 once it’s released.
The major new additions include a huge nighttime map called Omega Factory, which comes with six different layouts. There’s also a new 7-player aircraft called the KT-424 Combat Dropship (guess what that does?) and five new layouts for the original maps so that the new dropship can be used.
There’s an overview of the map and a few more details over on PlayStation.Blog, with an FAQ covering the booster pack coming soon.

As I type this, maintenance of the Warhawk servers is ongoing as the v1.1 patch – which I’ve mentioned previously – is released. There’s a chance that you were able to download the patch before the servers went offline (5 AM – 9 AM PST), and if you try going online now you’ll be unable. No worries, though; just wait until the servers come back online, which should be shortly, and everything will be a go.
Next time you boot the game up, you’ll be prompted to download and install the patch. It’s not particularly large, so it should be a quick update.
We know the v1.2 patch is going to release sometime in December. Hopefully, it’ll be early December as it’s looking like a really great update.

Through what undoubtedly equates to some mixture of witchcraft and satanic worship, the v1.1 Warhawk patch has leaked out to certain individuals playing with the Blu-ray version of the game in the US. The problem has been resolved and the patch can no longer be downloaded.
For those that did inadvertently download the patch, there is a remedy. Head to the XMB, go to the Game Data Utility, and delete your Warhawk files. Then, next time you start the game it’ll automatically reinstall the v1.0 files. Don’t worry if you’ve got saved data; this won’t have any effect on that.
The patch is still on track to release by the end of the month, with the v1.2 patch following in December.

Last week I posted about the two patches incoming for Warhawk, although details of the second of those two patches weren’t revealed. Dylan Jobe, director on Warhawk, has posted the details up on PlayStation.Blog, and they’re a lot more exciting than the maintenance-esque fixes v1.1 will bring.
Patch v1.2 includes:
- 5 New layouts.
- Clan game server option.
- Buddy slot reservations.
- Integrated Warhawk Store.
- Updated CTF capture/return behavior.
- Internal stat padder protection.
- Booster Pack status display at join game list.
- DualShock3 integration.
- Separate SIXAXIS motion control on/off per mode (ground, hover, flight).
- Detailed Player Score display at end of game fixed.
- Added new server type filters (player, ranked, dedicated, clan, Official Warhawk, etc).
- Added new server full/open filter.
- Fall damage exploit fixed.
- Dismount into walls exploit fixed.
- Invisible Tank, Turret & Warhawk exploit fixed.
- Auto-kick of idle players.
- Add to Favorites button added to end game screen.
- Increased VOIP volume when not using headset.
Those are some really awesome changes, particularly the separated motion control. Flying with the motion control is a really rewarding experience and can give you an edge over the competition, but driving a tank, for instance, with the motion controls is just tedious.
Jobe goes on to explain the details of some of the features of the patch, which should see a December release.
