The Lost Crown: Case Files of a Modern Day Ghost-Hunter

By Stephany on Friday, March 7th, 2008 at 1:44 PM
In Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

Recently, The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure was released for the PC. While developing the game, many of the subsequent case files logged during Jonathan Boakes’ investigations with an actual paranormal research ultimately made their way into the actual game.

Got Game Entertainment has released these case files for the game and posted them on the official website where you can be the judge for yourself as to whether it is just camera issues, background noises being unintentionally recorded, or actual paranormal phenomenon. Each of the released case files contains detailed documentation of the investigation, along with links to associated video and audio clips.

The supernatural activity reflected in the following is genuine and are apprentley not staged, although while watching some of the videos, I was disappointed to see that a running time was not included within the videos. Not that I am accusing them of doctoring anything, but with a time stamp in the corner of the videos it would have given them a better case for authenticity. Not that I am a complete skeptic or anything because I am not, I just think that a lot of incidences could be explained logically and ultimately debunked.

See for yourself by checking out the case files here and if your interest is piqued, look over our previous posts on The Lost Crown for more information.

The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure in Stores Now

lost crownI have been telling you about The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure since we got the first press release on it back in August 2007. By now, I am sure you have made an educated guess that the whole ghost hunting thing is a hobby of mine and that I have been pretty excited to see how realistic the game depicts the equipment that real ghostbusters use. After playing the demo, I can safely say that it is pretty realistic in that department and that so far it seems like a decently fun suspense-adventure PC game.

Today, Got Game Entertainment announced that the The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure is now sitting on North American retail shelves. Created by adventure gaming legend Jonathan Boakes (“Dark Fall”, “Dark Fall II: Lights Out”) and his Darkling Room team, this suspense-adventure game for the PC combines a dense, rich, spine-tingling story inspired by classic ghost stories with today’s modern ghost-hunting techniques. The intuitive interface allows players to wield the tools of a paranormal investigator, and the game contains actual E.V.P. (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recordings taken of “real ghosts” along with actual unexplained entities captured by Boakes while he was researching the game.

Inspired by the works of Charles Dickens, M.R. James, Arthur Conan Doyle, and E.F. Benson, The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure features a world of part black and white and part color against a backdrop of wind-swept coastlines and crumbling crypts featuring puzzles and interactions with the town locals, earthly and otherwise. Skills at ghost-hunting and detecting paranormal activity directly affect how the game continues.

‘The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure’ Goes Gold

By Stephany on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 2:17 PM
In Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

the lost crown a ghost hunting adventure

Channeling the tingling excitement of sighting an approaching apparition after a long night’s ghost-hunt, Got Game Entertainment today announced that The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure has gone gold. Jay and Grant at TAPS would be so proud, but I am sure you will find more ghosts in this game than they do on Ghost Hunters.

The PC exclusive is coming to shelves in March, The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure finds ghost-hunters Nigel Danvers and Lucy Reubans in search of hidden treasures, and answers to an ancient mystery, along England’s fog-shrouded coastline. Created by Jonathan Boakes and his Darkling Room team, this suspense-adventure game features actual E.V.P. (Electronic Voice Phenomena), photographs of unexplained entities captured by Boakes while researching the game, and an original soundtrack.

In a cinematic world filled with taunting town “locals” and puzzles, players will be armed with the tools of the modern-day ghost-hunter to investigate local legends and discover long-lost secrets, previously known only to the dead.
