Telltale is bringing a new generation of gamers fresh Tales of Monkey Island. The new episodic adventure games plays like Sam & Max or Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. That is to say it plays like the original classic point-and-click adventure game, the Secret of Monkey Island. For the maiden voyage of Tales of Monkey Island, Telltale presents the first of five monthly episodes, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal available today for the PC or as WiiWare..
I’m a veteran of the Monkey Island series. Although I’m really looking forward to the re-imagined Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition coming out later this summer, I was very excited about new stories featuring Guybrush Threepwood, and those mysterious monkeys. I can honestly tell you that Telltale has done an excellent job retaining the bumbling, yet witty and sarcastic Guybrush Threepwood and the ensemble of characters that keep this setting fresh almost 20 years after the first game launched.

Ossian Studios has put up another Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate Spotlight on the BioWare community site. The latest developer article on the first adventure pack for NWN2 focuses on the Lore of Westgate.
Folk around the western Inner Sea view Westgate as a cesspool of decadent evil, eager to make financial deals with pirates to leave its ships alone and to attack those from other ports, or to arrange shortages and wars to drive prices up. And these views are right, for the intrigues, secret deals, black markets, murders, skeleton-filled closets, and supposedly hidden treasures of the city are endless. Behind literally every corner exists the opportunity for the crafty and clever to become wealthy… and the gullible and naïve to become dead.
As the largest and oldest city on the Dragon coast, Westgate has a colorful past which many seeking fortune and fame hope to be more truth than myth. Tales of dragon hordes, forgotten subterranean temples and Verovan’s lost hoard have lured treasure hunters in the the labyrinthine sewers under Westgate searching for forgotten cashes of loot and artifacts. Some even return to tell the tale
The background story for Westgate is a rich and well fleshed out tale. If the in game story line is as interesting as the mythology, the Mysteries of Westgate should be well worth plumbing indeed.

Old Man Winter decided to dump a little over 6 inches of snow on us last night. Looking out into that glorious winter wonderland, memories of sledding as a kid and making snowmen sprang to mind as I looked out over my vast bright white yard. I contemplated getting all bundled up in coveralls (yes I own a pair, wanna fight about it?) and my boots and creating a snowman so intricate and creative that I would be the envy of all the neighbors for having such a neat piece of art adorning my front lawn. Then reality can running in and viciously kicked my fantasy in the crotch. I then realized that I am not 10 years old anymore, and no one wants to see a grown woman in coveralls slipping and falling all over the place – and due to the bulkiness and weight said coveralls, rolling around in the snow trying desperately to get up. That would be very undignified, plus, I have never been patient enough to sculpt a really cool snowman, let alone one that any four year old could outdo – so I stayed in the house and worked instead. Such is the life of a grown-up.
Whether, like me, you are too old to play in the snow, are deficient of snow, or are just glued lethargically to your computer trying desperately to fill the void of another boring Saturday afternoon, you can always try out some of our latest demos or download some patches you may have been unaware of.
Here are some of the demos that hit FileFront this week: Arctic Stud Poker Run, Auto Cross Racing, and Tumblebugs 2.
Patches that hit FileFront this week are as follows: Frontlines: Fuels of War, SimCity Societies, Tales of Pirates, Gears of War, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Crysis and tons more.
As always, for the complete list click here and here. Have a great weekend.
